NADA , ADOS or Kelley Blue Book. I'm trying to buy a boat from a dealer and he said they don't use NADA they use ADOS and I've never herd of ADOS. Could someone lighten the subject for me please

tyboarder03 03-26-2007 5:25 PM

NADA

tyboarder03 03-26-2007 5:25 PM

Never heard of ADOS prolly just some way for them to bend you over

curtisco24 03-26-2007 5:28 PM

Tell him NADA is what everyone else uses, and that is what you would use to resell the boat. A decent deal would be somewhere between low and high nada value. People very rarely pay full retail. The only time that happens is on old boats in great shape.

What kind of boat, hours, condition, price etc. I'm sure with that info more than a few people on here will give you a real good idea on price.

Say ADIOS to ADOS!

redracer2003 03-27-2007 3:50 PM

it's a 2001 Correct Craft Super Air Nautique 21' 320 h.p.
cover, cd, depth finder, heater, a pair of board racks, rear teak platform, NO perfect pass, it has 500p of ballast in the rear and a 500p fat sack for the ski locker, so not much for a true ballast system.

29k to 32k depending on hours and location

Actually Ados is the marine blue book that virtually every dealer uses. It is probably the closest most accurate blue book strictly for boats.

...every dealer? Not the dealer I traded my old boat and bought my new boat from...or the banks my two boat loans were through, or the marine surveyer that appraised my last boat...

jmv 03-27-2007 9:42 PM

My bank uses NADA to determine the loan amount for my boat. So Nada.

cbrown 03-28-2007 5:54 PM

Sparky, sorry not every dealer but quite a few do. Most banks check NADA for values.

ADOS
another dumb ol' salesman!!!!!

use nada.com to see the real value.

longhornfan 03-29-2007 2:07 AM

I'm pretty sure my bank used ADOS. I remember the loan officer saying it was basicaly the same as a Kelly Blue Book but for boats. Why not reference both for a better idea?

Is $26k a decent price for a '98 Maristar 225VRS with 170 hours with no tower or ballast? NADA is suggesting b/w $21-$23, but I haven't seen any Maristars in that price range.
