Do they carry sound good? Will a rider at 80' be able to hear them?

They sound good in and around the boat. Decent for surfing, and maybe on a good day (no wind or other interference) you might here some vocals and highs, but not with a lot of volume to the rider. The db651 was my first set of tower speakers in a Bullet enclosure.

My second set of tower speakers were the Polk db6750 components. (I think they stopped making them) Anyway an improvement over the db651. More brilliant sound.

My third set of tower speakers were Bullet 180 with JL 7.7's. Much bigger improvement. You can hear those much better at 80ft. They sounded great in and around the boat as well.

My latest set of tower speakers is the Bullet Hollowpoint 770's. These are loud and clear at 80ft. These are HLCD speakers and they have very good mid bass. I blown away at how good these speakers sound in the boat. There is almost no reason to have the interior speakers even on when the tower is running.

Spend some $$$ bucks now and you will be much happier later.

I had 4 POlk db651's and were very dissappointed with them. They did not carry any sound to the rider. I used them for cabin speakers and they were great.

i agree with eric. i have them in the cabin and on the tower. i cant even hear them that great when surfing. i'd look elsewhere for tower speakers.
