V215 ballast pump issues
 

I just put my new to me 2006 Sanger V215 in the water and my centre and drivers side ballast pumps are not working. Anyone had the same issue?:confused:

Did you check the reset breakers just below the switch for each pump?

Fill and drain or just the fill or just the drain?

I did check the breakers. Fill and drain on the back tank. The drain works on the centre bag, but not the fill. Power is making it to all the switches.

Is power making it to the pumps? I'd check the connector. I've heard that they do go out, I have a couple on hand just in case. If you need to replace them, I think you can remove the screw on top and just replace the cartridge - so you may not need to remove the whole pump... the ones in the front look pretty hard to get to without removing them. Let us know what you find.

The second time I used the ballast pump in my Sanger (new v215), the starboard side (driver's side for us weekend warriors) ballast pump died. It filled up the tank but died when I tried to empty it. (The day I picked up the boat from the dealer, he told me that a pump had gone out and he had replaced it.)When I flipped the switch, the pump would hum for couple of seconds before the breaker switch would pop and then it would go silent. I bought a replacement cartridge for about $45 and installed it. It seems to work now--although I haven't been out on the water since I replaced it. The old pump was kind of "frozen" meaning the impeller blades were hard to turn by hand--on the new pump cartridge, they turn easily. Either the Shurflo pumps are crap or else they get messed up by sitting around on a boat lot for a long time.

The cartridge is easily to replace without having to reconnect the entire pump assembly.

not sure what kind of pumps they are but my centurion has the jab pumps and they froze up from sitting.pulled the impellers and soaked in some diesel fuel for about a hour then used some babyoil and threw em back in.worked great.diesel will help soften the rubber.

It's weird you have issues with 5 of the 6 pumps! Is that correct. I have replaced 2. One just stoped working, the second must have froze b/c the housing was cracke. Both those pumps were the fill pumps for the rear tanks, closest to the transom. The other 4 pumps, more inboard, have been just fine. I have 2 spare pumps with me at all times. They are super easy to replace if you have the connectors already crimped for plug and play, if you know what I mean.

Sometimes the stock wiring can just become loose.

It seems that I am having problems with the two on the back starboard tank and the fill on the centre tank? How much are you paying for the pumps?

I have two spares. All wired up and ready to go. Even on pumps I have not replace yet I changed the connectors to plug and play so I am ready to swap them out at anytime.

have you removed the pumps from the housing yet to see how freely the impellers turn?
