a lets go ride sac at
9"x80"x28"

I estimate 9x80x28=20160
20160/1728=11.67
11.67 x 62.4=728 pounds
weight of water is 62.4/cu. ft.
lxwxh/1728 converts cu. feet to cu. inches.
Is this accurate?
What do you guys get?

(Message edited by typhoon on February 06, 2003)

How many gallons does it hold. figure water at a conservative 8 lbs per gallon.

I'm not into math.

jmccallum 02-06-2003 12:42 PM

I get 733 lbs using canadian inches!

rtm 02-06-2003 12:47 PM

err-a-yahh...sounds about right to me. I'd hate to be off by a pound or two. j/k
onealrep 02-06-2003 4:34 PM

Ty-

I get the same thing...I found that 1 cubic inch = .004329 gallons, so 20160 x .004329 = 87.27 gallons, x 8.35 lbs/ gallon = 728.70 pounds.

Is this the weight of our bags?

Chuck

typhoon 02-06-2003 4:40 PM

Yes. that is our sac. I estimate that we will lose the 28 pounds in the slight taper. We are looking at 700 pounds in our boats.

onealrep 02-06-2003 4:47 PM

Cool...that's almost double of the stock bag...I'll be getting mine in in a month or so, just bought a new house and too busy packing and getting ready to move right now.

Did you get your ballast system in ?

typhoon 02-06-2003 4:50 PM

Finally I finished it and found out that they sent me the wrong dash switches. They are sending me out the right ones. I am going to take pics of everything and post the full instructions of what I did and how. It was very easy and inexpensive.

jmanjohn 02-06-2003 4:52 PM

Ty,
My bag is in. I filled it with a home made fake a lake and emptied it into five gallon buckets. I estimated, guessing for the water I did not catch, 8 buckets. You do the math. I am a little disappointed. But on the other hand it is more than the stock bag I took out. It did not completely empty with the pump, So I am sure that I am a little short on My estimate.

typhoon 02-06-2003 4:57 PM

That has to be incorrect. That sac is twice as large as the old sac.

onealrep 02-06-2003 4:59 PM

That seems way off, only 40 or so gallons? That would only be around 335 pounds, which is less than the stock bag?!

Ty, what did LGR figure the bag would weigh? If John's figures are right, that's not good.

jmanjohn 02-06-2003 5:04 PM

You have to remember John cant add. May have lost count. My bag may be folded. The sack is only going to fill to the max that the area around it will allow. That bag is huge.

onealrep 02-06-2003 5:12 PM

The bag is huge, and you may be right that it is only filling as big as it can with the space that it's in. When I first opened mine my first thought was that is was bigger than the space it was going to be put in. I guess I'll have to wait and see when I put mine in. I just hope it doesn't end up being less weight than stock.

jmanjohn 02-06-2003 5:25 PM

It can not be less. It is going to put more weight forward. I have been running the stock bag 500 lbs in the back 500 lbs over the locker the wake has great shape and seems to be more consistent in rough water. You will be happy!
Chuck are You still riding? Have not seen You out yet.

onealrep 02-06-2003 5:35 PM

John-

Not riding now, I'm an early spring to late fall rider. My first passion is motocross, and I'm riding/racing a lot right now, 2-3 times a week. I'll start getting back out to the lake in April probably. I'm moving to Castaic at the end of the month, so I'll be out there a lot this season.

I was hoping this bag would hold closer to the 700 pounds we were thinking it would, as I don't want to run any more sacks...have to wait and see how it works out I guess.

jmanjohn 02-06-2003 5:50 PM

I do not think You will be disappointed!

alan_bogdanoff 02-06-2003 6:53 PM

if you fill it with fresh water its 62.4 pounds per sq. ft. if its salt water its 64.08 pounds per sq. ft.

typhoon 02-07-2003 6:23 AM

Right on guys. After measuring, we are looking at about 700 pounds. 750 is what lgr estimated.

onealrep 02-07-2003 8:14 AM

Ty-

Is that from your external dimensions or did you try filling yours like John did?

typhoon 02-07-2003 8:22 AM

from my measurements of the inside of the hull and the sac. John had to have a fold or air or something i am guessing as the sac is a monster.

jmanjohn 02-07-2003 3:38 PM

O.K. I am going to pull My sack out and pump some air in it and try again. Then fill it. I will keep You posted!

wakeborder5 02-08-2003 7:33 AM

Go to their website, or is it custom made?

typhoon 02-14-2003 8:00 AM

custom sac from pete at letsgoride.com
email him and he will quote you.

very cool guy.

ofwc 02-14-2003 9:06 AM

Ty -

If you assume the bag is "pillow shaped" vs. cube shaped, you lose some volume. I did a quick calculation assuming the sides along the length of the sack were 1/2 round with a 4.5" radius.

Using your figures otherwise, I come up with 677 lbs.
