I was just watching Delta Sessions today, and noticed kevin bird and mike schweene wearing solbound bindings. I own two pairs, and will never step into another binding unless they break. Who else has ridden solbound, and did you like them?

dakid 11-09-2004 5:09 PM

i rode solbound...didn't like 'em at all.

wake_upppp 11-09-2004 5:12 PM

Didn't like em either.

thane_dogg 11-09-2004 5:14 PM

I want to ride some.

blabel 11-09-2004 5:18 PM

Footbeds look to thin. The Vandall must have dented his boards wearing those!

jrad 11-09-2004 9:14 PM

ive never got shcinn splints or anything from them, the padding is so dense. i love em

electricsnow 11-09-2004 10:35 PM

I have them, love them, and if I could, I'd produce some offspring with them so I could ride them forever. Seriously, the later models had some nice footbeds. Joe, I'm a sinner, and I still owe you a pic of the foot bed...

Oh, I have the vandals...

dakid 11-09-2004 10:42 PM

electricsnow, i gave up on that pic. you're so unreliable!

goodtimes 11-10-2004 8:52 AM

The later models do have a better footbed. I love mine. Super comfortable. I keep switching between my Gators and the Solbounds but the Solbounds are much lighter.

guido 11-10-2004 10:22 AM

did they go out of business, or are they still around. I've never even seen a pair in person.

toolfan 11-10-2004 1:28 PM

No one knows, but I did see a unicorn selling them last week.

bond 11-10-2004 1:32 PM

Bindings are still avaliable thru Mike Rogers I belive.

wcr 11-10-2004 2:16 PM

simply the best binding I have ever had,,,,!!!

twakess 11-10-2004 2:38 PM

Racer#5 Team Rider, Is that old man Mike Rogers still ride up there at sonoma. I bet you can still see him riding in Lucky cove.
bond 11-10-2004 2:52 PM

..Mike still pops in every once in awhile Cannont miss the Solbound boat on the water.

more_betterness 11-10-2004 2:56 PM

Can I see a picture? curious to see what they look like

walt 11-10-2004 4:39 PM

I've got a pair and love them. I just bought a pair of 05 CWB Zeus bindings and I think I might like the Solbounds better. I'm going to stick with the CWB's for a bit and then switch back to the Solbounds and see if I still feel the same way.

dakid 11-10-2004 4:45 PM

walt, if you end up goin' back to solbounds, sell me the zeus for 50 bucks!

walt 11-10-2004 4:49 PM

Joe, I don't think they make them that small. J/K

dakid 11-10-2004 4:50 PM

nukka, i wear a large!

more_betterness 11-10-2004 4:57 PM

Thanks Walt.

walt 11-10-2004 4:57 PM

Sorry Joe but your still out of luck because a large won't fill my shoes. No pun intended.

theflyinburrito 11-10-2004 7:02 PM

dont leave home without em

kevin_bird 11-10-2004 7:24 PM

i rode for solbound for a while and loved them the best bindings i have ever ridden but i have a size 13 and last time i talked to mike i could not get any if anyone ever gets a chance to to get there hands on them, get them.

thane_dogg 11-10-2004 9:55 PM

Jared - didn't you get the last pair?

jrad 11-10-2004 11:55 PM

ya, at least the last pair of vandalls. But Mike still might be selling the Whalmans. I absolutely love these bindinds.

luchog 11-11-2004 8:32 AM

what is it about the "solbounds" that everyone is so crazy about?? I cannot get a pair to try so I'd appreciate if anyone explained it to me.

jarrod 11-11-2004 1:10 PM

It's the spikes dood, and the west side sign. Nothing says, "I'm hard core" like a pair of those babies.
slidervinny 11-11-2004 1:30 PM

its just simply a basic binding design with no bull to it, hands down one of the best that i ever liked.

electricsnow 11-11-2004 3:38 PM

Joe! Joe! No....I never meant for it to end like this...

Yes, I DID paint my plates pink. And the other picture has some thruster straps I got this past may when I bought an erich schmaltz pro model.

Also, I personally love these bindings because (as vince said) they're a no BS design. They're comfortable (for me), they hold my foot in nicely, and they're super adjustable. Also, I don't need any sort of lubricant to slip them on, and that's a huge plus.

twakess 11-11-2004 3:57 PM

Dang Chef seeing those thruster slippers, just reminded me of the good old days. Did any of you get to ride or see rogers shackle bindings? I think I have a set some where I will do some digging. Now they are the Solbound OG's (BTW if you rode them you guys are old.)

buffalow 11-12-2004 7:40 AM

I remember them. i remember Mike getting WORKED at Boardstock '96 in them as well. Mike did more sick stuff in those bindings than most people today. Last time I talked with him he was recovering from a broken leg(moto). He still puts out a few here and there, but insurance kills him. He was trying to work something out with CD.

dakid 11-12-2004 8:25 AM

electricsnow, thanks for the pics.

the footbeds look a lot thicker, but i'm still not sure about the rest of the bindings. i do like "flexible" bindings to be able to poke out grabs, but i still want them supportive and stiff enough for those bad wrecks (like my lukes). also, the strap, i had a problem with them staying in its place. maybe they've improved that, along with the other things. i'd prolly check 'em out again...maybe.

garrett_cortese 11-12-2004 2:46 PM

Schwenne, Aubrey and Doud are all former riders of Solbounds and still love them. Schwenne will still throw them on his board from time to time. Here's some evidence from my photo vault:

If you ride Solbounds, maybe you can poke out your grabs like Mike Schwenne... or maybe not. Lake McClure, 2003.

Aaron Aubrey also swore by Solbounds just last year. He rides pretty good, too, in case you didn't know.

Daniel Doud has taken some wrecks in Solbounds, he also throws down, too.

Later,
Garrett

<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/199280.jpg" alt="If you ride Solbounds, maybe you can poke out your grabs like Mike Schwenne... or maybe not. electricsnow 11-13-2004 12:40 AM

Joe....can we....I mean, does this mean we're friends again? hahahaha, to each his own, to each his own. Again, I loved the "binders" that's all I can say. I can't even help it...it's kind of like cinderella and her glass slippers...

And I remember the solbound shackles (the original shackles)! Mike must have been the last professional to rock straps...and me laddy, he rocked them hard!!

dakid 11-13-2004 12:44 AM

yeah, i'll forgive you this time.

tell mike to send me a new pair of "binders". i'll check 'em out!

electricsnow 11-13-2004 3:19 PM

I feel blessed to be back in your good graces...Thank you!

binders..."we're so old school!" Holla...
