I've got a bud who is looking at stepping into a used V-Drive. Where the boarding water is is seperated by a lowish non-draw bridge from his dock.
I've tried search but haven't had much luck. My google skills on this one seem inadequate-thus my plea for help. Anyone have tower bridge clearance specs for the majors? I've guestimated most at about 7.5 feet from waterline to tow point but he's looking for something more solid than my SWAG. He's not too keen on folding it to get under.
Thanks!

a tape measure from the bridge to the waterline and then your SWAG

As Jonny says ... nothing exists like that to my knowledge.

if it looks close just add more ballast

h20jnky 05-18-2008 8:47 PM

if there are no height signs posted, hit the bridge and then sue.. then he can buy a new boat that will hold more ballast..

just eye that crap. you will be ok if not fill the ballest, if that doesnt work take the tower down.lol

Take a tape measure from the bottom of the bridge to the water level. Then tape measure from the top of the tower to the bottom of the rudder/prop (this might be a little tricky but can be done). Then subtract the official draft of the boat from the "top to bottom" boat measurement. Compare the first and the last number and walla. When weighted down with gear, people, maybe ballast, etc. in all likelyhood, your draft will be a bit deeper than the official number making the estimate conservative.

I know our ride uses less than 10' when it's on plane and it's a pretty tall boat (X-star). The bridges at the delta are tide marked. Off plane I would definitely put it under 8'.

What's the problem with folding the tower to get to a good riding spot? I fold my tower 2-4 times every weekend to get to my spot. I have to go under two bridges. It's really not a big deal if you have a good crew.

well I'd say that the tower in question would play a BIG part in how quick I'd be to fold it twice a day.

Here is what to do step by step.

1.Get another boat and anchor it 50 feet away from the bridge.
2. Have your buddy go full throttle toward the bridge.
3. Make sure you have your video camera rolling
4. Post on wakeworld if he doesnt clear it...

he could just cut 6" off of each one of the tower legs and then re-mount..
