My wife is looking at an Xterra and I was wondering if they would tow a wakeboat without any problems?

Not the ideal vehicle but if you're careful it can be done. A Titan would be better.

I normally tow with an f350 but it would be cool to have another rig that would tow it. She's pretty fond of the Nissan Xterra. The lake is pretty close I'm just wondering if they can handle the weight. The new ones have the 4 liter v6. Not quite the power package I would normally tow with but is it good enough?

In a pinch I had to tow an '85 Malibu with Jeep Wrangler...wow, that was fun.
The short wheel base will make it interesting to tow with. Really depends on the Boat. I have seen many 4-runners and Exploders towing ski boats...

For short distances, you will be fine. I had the 3.3L Frontier.

Then for your longer hauls, you can use the 350. .. You will be fine.

John, how much does our boat weight.
The newere xterra's max tow weight is 5,500 ot 6,000 lbs.
I actually work for a Nissan dealer(svc side) so anymore info feel free to ask.

Kevin the boat weighs 3500# and the trailer roughly 500#? I tow with a 350# bag up front, 300# in the trunks and usually a full tank (65 gallons). What should I know about the Xterras? Anything major that I should consider about these vehicles? Thanks in advance.

The new Xterras are nice.
The 4.0 V-6 is great. I would considor the 4*4 though with that kinda weight. The tongue weight will be kinda high with the 350 lb bag up front.
The 4*4 will help when pulling out from the ramp.
No major repeated problems we have seen yet on the newer xterras.

Oh yeah it'll definitely be a 4x4. I'm actually tryin to get her to get the Pathfinder Armada but she reminds me that we are also lookin to get into a bigger house. If I get us into a newer house that might help facilitate a newer boat....

I have an 02 supercharged Frontier and it pulls the boat around easily. Kinda hard on gas when I'm hauling as compared to when I had a full sized Sierra.
