2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2008 Chevy Trailblazer

Trailblazer has 50k miles and they are asking 15k
Jeep has 65k miles and they aer asking 17k
or explorer / expedition if I can find one?
I have been reading that the reliablithy on jeeps are kind of shiztay? Can anyone confirm this?
Which would you choose?

What motors are in each? That would be my deciding factor.

There were 2 V8's available in teh Jeep, not sure if its the regular or long trailblazer, and that determines if a V8 was an option.

The 2 chasis's probably tow the same, i'd base my decision on motor, and tow ratings. Go with the more powerful motor, and/or the one with teh highest tow rating.

Neither are going to be ideal for towing. I highly recommend towing with a full size. And you won't lose much in mileage going from a v8 Grand cherokee to a Tahoe.

I think everyone has an opinion about relaibility for every brand. I have an 01 grand cherokee with 140k 4.7 V8 and I love it. I have not driven too many of hte newer GC's but I don't think the ride in the Trailblazer can compare. GC has had some issues, but fortunately I have been able to fix most all of them in the driveway. The other GC owners I know seem to be overall happy with them.. I know others that have trailblazers and had one problem after another. I don't think one is terribly better than the other for reliability even though I know chrysler generally gets a bad wrap. Personally, I am now looking at a Tahoe or another grand cherokee.

Does the Trailblazer have the 4.2L or the 5.3L? I would take the 4.2L over the 5.3L. Does the GC have rear disk? I think it's std on the Trailblazer, at least it was on my 02 LTZ.

I have ridden, towed, and repaired both models mentioned, and I prefer the Trailblazer as it has less sag under tongue weight. My 02 has 145K and tows like a champ with the 4.2L.

i have gone to both dealerships and can confirm they both have repair facilities and both are occupied with said vehicles.the jeep obviously has better resale.the chevy costs less and has less miles the chevy is newer so you can get a lower interest rate.i'm a ford man so i would choose explorer over expedition purely on gas mileage alone.if i had to choose between the two vehicles knowing what you have told me and my knowledge of both.i would choose the chevy, but don't tell anyone i said that.LOL
