I've surefed twice now. Both times I feel really weird being that close the boat. Many times my board would actually go over my swimstep, then I'd usually just bail. I don't have any pics sorry, but I was hoping maybe seeing other pics would help me determine if I need to adjust the wake or something. Also, has anyone caught their nose and hit their swimstep? I haven't yet, but I feel like it'll happen one of these times...

Hi Jeremy heres a few photos from our MB SPORT B52.It sounds like your speed is to slow we ride about 11.5 mph to 12.2 the slower u go the bigger your wake is going to be if u r going to slow u will be on the swim platform if u go a little faster the wave will lengthen but u will lose height.there is so many factors when dailing in your boat like what kind of boat u have how much internal ballast the boat has and how many fat sacks u have and were u put them also how many people r on the boat it crazy but when u get it right u will be lovin it

Hey Hawk is this your older SunSport you are riding behind? Let me know and I can give you lots of tips we surfed all summer.

I put one sac in rear locker, one on port floor and one under bow on port side (tucked back under the spotters seat glovebox) for about 1400lbs + people. It's usually waist high.

As far as being too close to the swimstep...yes you are close but the sweet spot should be 3-4 ft back all the way back to 15-20 ft back. Are you using a surf rope? They have well spaced sections.

You will get used to the distance back as well as how to be in CONTROL of that distance. Your weight on your back foot is the brakes, the front foot the gas.

I do notice a lot of exhaust and loud noise when surfing. I have purchased Fresh Air Exhaust but haven't been able to complete the installation yet due to my scheduling.

You are always pretty close - I can start off the swim platform, surf, and then hop back on the platform when I'm done.

Only once have I a problem - you know on a skateboard how some people lose their balance and fall off backwards and KICK the board? Well a friend kicked an ocean surf board into the back of the boat and the tip exploxded!

I have never had anyone hit the platform while riding or falling. No rope burn/tangle incidents either.

The SunSport makes an AWESOME older wake boat. Here are the best of my pics from this summer.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/605405.html?1217336236

yeah Mikey,

Its my good ol sunsport. I have about 870 of sacs then I added 600 of sandbags. It was nice because the sandbags were 60 ea so were able to adjust the weight pretty easily. let me know if you get your exhaust figured out because I was thinking the same. I think my tower speakers are pretty good, but my engine is so darn loud you can't hear'em while wakeboarding. Then, while surfin, it is way loud being that close to the boat. And the nice warm musty exhaust is great too. let me know if you find anything good to quiet the exhaust

Oh and put the wakeplate down about 1/2" from horizontal. Makes the wave a little more crisp (no foam) and a lil more peaky and steep.

Well the FAE www.freshairexhaust.com is supossed to take 50% off the noise and 90% off the emissions but their price is up to $475 now... He had to custom make mine for the boat model So yours SHOULD be the same. I'll let you know.

What boards are ya ridin so far?

hawk22 10-16-2008 2:02 PM

1/2" down?? I was told to have the plate up. I always thought it should be down because it will pull the back end down, but people corrected me saying that the wakeplate needs to be about 3/4" up so the back end of the boat will sink? now I'm confused.

$475 is steep.

um boards, I rode my cousins I'm not sure what that was, but last time I rode a CWB ride, appx 60" tall. I think my cousins was smaller, i like it better.

sweet pics btw. That was the first time surfin behind my boat the other day, so I still have to figure out how to ride further back. I remember sometimes going up a long side the back of my boat...when you would drop in the wave and get speed...don't like being that close, but it looks like you've got plenty of space on your SS.
