For one I'm not an audio expert by any means. I bought 2 pair of the Boss B-60's upgraded with MB Quart psd 216 speakers. Earlier in the year I blew two of the speakers. I was wondering is there a better upgrade that is not too unreasonably priced. Has anyone replaced there tower speaker's using the same cans.

I know quite a few use a typical, off the shelf, standard speaker size/bolt pattern like my Skylon made Tige cans.

I have been very happy with what I have been using, but now there blown. I'm just not sure if there is a better replacement speaker. By the way I need component speaker's.

I've been real happy with my Kicker KS65.2 components.

6.5 woofer
1" tweeter
5-5/8 dia mounting hole
150 peak
75 RMS

I don't think the tweeter will fit my cans I need a 3/4 tweeter.

" don't think the tweeter will fit my cans I need a 3/4 tweeter."

Cant remember off the top of my head, but I think they need about a 1-3/4" hole.

I looked at those speaker on eBay about $100.00 shipped....not a bad price. How well do they sound while riding?

chpthril 12-27-2007 1:33 PM

What cans you got? and how sure are you on the tweeter hole?

With the factory installed 4chnl amp, i'm only throwing about 45 watts to each of the 4, bit it is audible. Nice clean, load sound, but by no means NVS's

New amp that will better match is in the works for this off-season.

pnichols 12-27-2007 1:47 PM

This is one of my off season projects as well. I have the amps already just need two replace two speakers. I'm running the stock Kenwood amp that came with my boat to power the interior speakers. I'm using a Kicker zx650.4 to power my tower speaker's and sub. I did not realize how big it was until it showed up at my door. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6600_Kicker+ZX650.4.html I wish it was smaller, but it sure has tons of power.

chpthril 12-27-2007 1:52 PM

Thats the Kicker I am upgrading to. I'll trade ya my ZX350.4, only 10 months old.

J/K that one is about perfect for what you got now and or the Kickers, I'd keep it.

pnichols 12-27-2007 1:57 PM

You will love the power it has. The only con is the size.....I have mine mounted under the passenger dash up against the wall above the battery. It takes up a little of the storage space, but that seemed like the most practical place to mount it. Oh yeah make sure you turn the gain way down if only powering four speaker's or you will be in my boat trying to replace the speaker's you already have.

pnichols 12-27-2007 2:00 PM

Here you go that's about what i paid for mine. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-ZX650-4-CHANNEL-CAR-AUDIO-AMPLIFIER-AMP-ZX_W0QQitemZ350009819322QQihZ022QQcategoryZ39739QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

chpthril 12-27-2007 2:01 PM

Yeah it's about the same size as my XZ700.5 powering sub and cabin speakers.

pnichols 12-29-2007 6:45 AM

Has anyone else replaced the speakers in there cans?
