Tige 22V Ballast Setup
 

Can someone get me started on a good ballast setup for surfing behind a 2003 Tige 22V? I currently have two 500lbs sacks in the rear. I know I need more but how much and where? I am looking for more of a surf wake than a skim wake. Heavy riders currently have a difficult time surfing behind my setup.

I surf a 22v all the time. I also own a 24v and they are super similar. My buddies 22v we stack two 750's in the locker on surf side plus 200 in lead under the seat, then fill a bow sac and use taps to clean the wave. It's nice, long and tall.

My boat I have custom 1800 pound sacs, plus 200 in lead on the surf side, plus a bow sac and a 250 on the swim deck.

Wow, that is some serious weight! How important is the bow sac?

The bow sac helps bring the bow down and add length to the wave. Best wave for your 22v would be custom enzo type sacs, built to fill your locker and under the seats running forward. Last time I did the math you could fit like 1600 or so on each side. Filling and stacking sacs sucks. So if you have the cash go custom sacs from fly high. Check out wakemakers.com or shop.maxwake.com. I personally buy a bunch from maxwake, because he has factory seconds and used for less $. Some people don't run bow sac, but I think it's important. It won't fill all the way, maybe 450-500 pounds.

As for surf boards that is a totally different topic. It's actually been discussed to death on this forum:) Boards are like boats, people have their favorites and are very loyal. I personally like and ride custom shred stixx boards. I personally don't like any boards that are made by wakeboard companies. There are a lot that are hand made and you can get customized to you.

A cheaper option would be a 750 in the back locker, then a side sac under the seat on surf side.

Hey ridemarktwain I'm currently installing a custom set up in my 2003 22v. I have had made to custom rear v drive sacs that are both around 1500 lbs and a bow sac for the front. I'm going to run 4 reversable pumps in the system. I will be putting some pics and info on Tige owners forum when I'm done. Should be a sweet set up.

The 22v throws a great wave when weighted right. What engine do you have? You might need to upgrade your prop to help with the added weight.

Im super excited to try out my new setup this spring. I have a new acme prop I will be usuing for the increased ballast setup that is designed for heavily weighted boats.

I have a 6.4L Mercury Cruizer. I got a new prop awhile back it is an Acme 537 Propeller 4 Blade 13.5 x 16LH. I mostly wakeboard, but am getting into srufing more.
