We have the 129 and 133 available for demo at California Skier Mastercraft Boats in Lake Elsinore. Some of the employees took it out and said it was a fun board to ride. Lots of pop and very stable to ride.

I've never heard of the Fish. Is this their version of Hyperlite's Roam board?

the fish is the absolute best board ever made, lots of pop, really fast and has a low swing weight so you spin faster too. it's the best board i've ever ridden, along with the new team bindings best setup ever.

the roam's fun but not as functional as a board that you can actually ride all the time.

It does sound like a cool board, but ive heard that its priced around 450. Kinda expensive for a "fun" board

I rode one this weekend. Sweet ride. Big pop and soft landings. Great board once you get used to its length. I will own one soon.

is it 3 stage or continious? i just dont see paying the price for the thing. dunno though i can catch spring fever pretty quickly.

Did you get it yet?

wakeriderixi 10-20-2004 2:41 PM

its a fun bored for sure, great pop with super smooth landings.... way to aggressive for me... ive gotta have a really mellow laid back board or i just get worked, i ride a trip.

canaday 10-21-2004 9:03 AM

It's not very fast
Randy, Did you get a good deal on the board? If so, where did you order it?

riverside 10-21-2004 1:46 PM

obrien already did the small/width setup in 1998 with the phatty.nothing new about this concept except for the fins.they also made a crossover model between the regular boards and phatty..forgot the name though.
p.s i,m not bashing LF i really want to try this fish also.just wanted to say that the idea is not new.

mvda 10-21-2004 1:57 PM

Ben, you are right that short and fat idea is not new. However, the original short fat board was the LF Squirt in 97. It's pretty cool that Jimmy Redmon (designer of both the Squirt and the Fish) is taking one of his older "new concepts" and combining it with todays shape and fin configuration advances. I was a huge fan of the Squirt and the Super Squirt and am really looking forward to trying out the Fish.

I just got the 129 and I wasn't too surprised in how it rode. I've been riding the substance for 2 years now and it feels a lot like that except for how loose it is. It has virtually no swing weight and I didn't notice much more pop. The one thing that I did notice the most is how loose while approaching the wake. If you don't set your edge, the board will get loose on you. Also I felt like I had to ride faster to keep it on edge, but that could have just been because of the conditions. It was much better the second set and it does take a little time to get use to it. But that could be said for just about any board. All in all, I like it, but I don't think I'm going to give up my substance.

gherk 10-24-2004 4:40 PM

Ok I just wanted to follow up on my post. I'm enjoying the board more an more each time out. Yes it is still loose, but not nearly as much as the first time out. Definitely a good popping board, but I personally can't tell a difference between this and my substance. What I am loving is the swing weight and the soft landings. Definitely a keeper.

ccwhite 10-24-2004 4:58 PM

Do you think it would soften landings that occur in the flats or on a cased wake?

gherk 10-24-2004 10:22 PM

Probably both. I wouldn't know about a cased wake since I am always landing 5-10 feet in the flats. hahaha.
