I've done a search on here and other sites and have read plenty of positive reviews about these tower speakers. The consensus is that they can be heard well by the rider. <BR> <BR>What I'm wondering though is how loud they are to people in the boat sitting in the back seat? Do the project the sound well or if they are cranked for the riders pleasure are the people in the back seat going to need ear plugs? <BR> <BR>If it makes a difference this would be on a 97 VLX so it doesn't have wrap around seating.

Man I don't know. I picked up a set of them to Replace my Evids. Wifey thought they looked a little better. I hooked one of them up today to a JL 300/2 which is 150watts RMS and I was not that impressed. I didn't tweak the amp much but it sure as hell didn't seem as loud as the Evid.

BJeremi - I'd put very little between the KMT6 and the Evids - not sure its worth changing unless the Evids are on the way out. <BR> <BR>Chad - They are a very directional speaker, you will hear them in the boat but it won't be anything to write home about.

Yeah I already sold the Evids and bought the KMT6. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I was driving the Evids off of a much weaker/older kicker amp that was only putting about 100watts to each Evid and they screamed. Almost painful to be on the swim platform with them turned up.

<b>Chad,</b> my KMT's haven't been too bad for the passengers (haven't gotten complaints) but you will hear them back there. Most of the sound is thrown above their heads so it shouldn't be too unbearable. If they were angled down slightly you might have more issues. Thee is a noticeable difference between standing just in front of them and just behind. My friends and I call it the "soundwall" because of the difference, but I've noticed this on other tower speakers as well.

ha ha NP J. <BR> <BR>Anyone care to provide input on whether it would be better to run these with a Kicker ZX450.2 or 350.4? <BR> <BR>350.4 bridged down to 2 is 175 watts RMS compared to 150 watts RMS for the 450.2. Based on that you would think the 350.4 is better but that just doesn't make sense to me lol.

The 350.4 would be cheaper but that the bridged rating for the 450.2 is about 225 watts.

Chad, <BR> <BR>Although the bridged output of the zx350.4 is 175w RMS, this is for a minimum of 4ohms. The KTM6's actually ohm out at a little less then the stated 4ohm. This may stress the amp a little in bridge mode, but I've had one running since May with no problems. <BR> <BR>The zx350.4 is cheaper with a little more power when bridged, but the zx450.2 will be more stable and run a little cooler. Wont gain anything by running the zx450.2 mono as the 2 speakers would split the 225w's for a net of 112w, besides the impedance being to low if run in parallel. <BR> <BR>If you really wanted to get the most out of a set of KTM6's, drive them with the zx550.2 (205w RMS x 2)

Please disregard what I said about the KMT6's above. The amp I was using, JL 300/2, was running at a reduced power. I didn't notice the low ohm was on indicating a problem.

Naw the amp is toast so I will have to wait a little longer to test them out.

Allright so I hooked up the KMT6's to another amp I had just to make sure they worked. It's and older Rockford fosgate amp that only puts about 80watts to each pod. I have to say I was pretty impressed, as stated earlier they are on par with the evids. I actually think at about 100' back they put out a bit more bass than the evids did but that may only me my imagination. That was the first thing I noticed though when I ran back to listen to them at a distance was how much bass they were putting out. This is all with them underpowered too. Can't wait to see what they sound like with the right amount of juice to them.

I ordered the KMT6's yesterday. Still debating on whether to order the 450.2 amp from the same place or ebay it.

So I've been running the KMT6's with a ZX450.2 amp for several trips now. <BR> <BR>The speakers can clearly be heard while riding. I installed a solobaric L7 and today I dunno if I was imaging it or it was the KMT6's but a couple of songs I heard base too. <BR> <BR>But to my original question. With the speakers pointing perfectly horizontal off the tower they are too loud for most people in the back seat. Since at wakeboard speeds the boat is not totally planed out I'm going to try angling them up a few degrees to see if that helps.

I have them on my Cal Pro V and they are loud in the boat but not painfull. Most of the sound goes over your head and back towards the rider. A great speaker for the price.
