Does anyone have experience getting a deck lid open when the auto motor is not responding?

Nine times out of ten I have found it to be a blown fuse. There is an inline fuse from the battery that operates the motor. It is either blown or... the silly rubber fuse holder has come apart (needs to be pushed back together and taped. Only problem.. (great piece of design)... they put the battery and fuse INSIDE an electrically driven lid. (way to go!). So.. you have to remove the rear seat.. and check the fuse from there. Or.. if not the fuse.. lie on your stomach... reach to the hydraulic arm and pull out the retaining clip (allowing you to open the lid). But.. try the inline fuse first..

If it is a v-drive with the electric hatch buttons 1)open the engine hatch <BR>2) reach through the opening toward where the electric latch is for the deck lid 3)when you find where the latch is, there is a flat metal tab the shape of a finger. 4) pull it and walah it opens. BTW if it's not a vdrive this will make no sense to you.

Evan - I think Rob has a SAN (like mine). It is impossible to open the engine hatch (which is an integrated single deck lid) without wither reengaging power to the hydraulic lift (*hence the fuse), or having to reach (it takes having arms like a snake and a back that can withstand punishment) to the cotter pin that holds the lift arm. Rmove the oin.. manually lift the lid.. and go from there.

I had an nautique excel that has pretty much the same set up. The first time i had problems i had to soder the 2 wires to the motor again that worked for a while but the real problem is that there is not a large enough wire to carry the current to the dash switch so i just rewired it straight from the battery with i think 10 g wire.
