I am having a problem with what i think is my speakers cutting out. I have a 1997 Nautique super sport and the sound system is Clarion (well atleast the head unit). Whenever I try and turn the volume up above about 28-29 the whole thing will turn off and then turn back on until I turn the volume down. I was looking at the options and when i TURN THE bASS TO -7 AND THE treb to -7 they can go to about 30. Also, when i CHANNEL THE SOUND TO ONE SPEAKER OR THE OTHER IT CAN ALSO GO TO ABOUT 30 BUT THE SECOND i TURN THE BASS OR TREBLE UP, OR HAVE ALL 4 SPEAKERS PLAYING, IT ONLY LETS ME GO TO 28. Please help.

All speakers playing off of the head unit or amps?

Clarion's IIRC only go up to about 35, so 28-29 should be the limit depending on what's powering the speakers.

Could be a dead short somewhere
Could be a blown speaker showing a dead short
Could be a low battery

power issue. run a wire directly to battery just like an amp. problem solved.

run a new ground too. or run a new ground to the daisy chain under the dash.

Whoops, sorry about the caps I just realized that. I think it's all running off, it says its 50 Watts x4 on the head unit. Where do I connect the wire to and from and everything. (I'm not so good at this stuff)

Thanks though!

I had the same problem with one of my older boats... Pretty sure its the max that deck can put out..If I were you id get a 4 channel amp to juice those speakers with. 60 to 80 bucks for a nice fosgate or kicker and your set! check craigslist.

We wanted to try and get a new system so I think we might just replace everything.

that was a common problem with that year nautique (pretty much all of them with that style dash).

the ground wire is not large enough to feed all devices in dash, change that first by running a second 8 or 10 guage and parallel them in the dash pod . if that is not enough so the same with the power.(make sure to fuse them at the batt)
