Water in the boat

I finally got a decent wake, but nothing to brag about, out of my 04 Centurion Lightning with 1750lbs of ballast and 3ppl in boat and one surfing. Problem I'm having is I'm taking in water through my blower vent on the port side while slowing down for a down rider. I really want to put more weight in to get a better wake, but scared of taking more water on. Any suggestions? What's the best way to cover the vent to prevent while surfing?

Make sure your blower is venting out the other side and then duck tape it closed.

I'm new to surfing too, but I finally figured it out.....you need to slow down gradually so the wake doesn't catch up to you. Its one of those learning curve things. I kinda feather the throttle to keep just ahead of the wake rolling at me and then will back down and turn so the starboard side (assuming your weight is on the port side) so the roller hits the side with more freeboard showing. My kids have given me the thumbs up as I havent soaked the boat in a while.

I still occasionally get a roller washing over the front ... which pisses my wife off when she is up there.

By the way - make sure your bilge is set to auto.....screwed that one up the first time....boat doesn't run so good with water up to the alternator. A wally move for sure
