Supra has a new model???

Anyone know much about it? I have heard something was coming, but they are keeping it tight lipped and I don't know that anyone really knows anything about it. Rick Tinker posted on the Supra forum that is is coming out on July 22nd and will be totally different than anything Supra has done.....
As some would say. "it is a game changer!"....... ha ha.... I really don't know anything about it, but it has my interest.....

patrick232 07-02-2012 7:41 AM

There is also something new from Moomba on July 24th per Rick's posting on Moomba forum. I would like to see a new LSV from Moomba, current hull is from 2006.

ripr 07-02-2012 9:00 AM

It has my interest, too. I love seeing all these companies doing their part to push innovation and keep things fresh.

What I KNOW:

-It will be pulling Worlds in August
-It has been in R&D for a considerable amount of time
-It was designed from the wake forward with considerable amount of collaboration between the riders and designers. (Kinda goes without saying)

Now, the fun part: Here's my GUESS:

-It will have a modified/open/picklefork/blunt nose....some type of 'non traditional' bow.
-I think it will be 22.5-23.5' long....replacement for the current 22SSV? I think so.
-Snap out carpet
-Use of sub floor ballast AND bags
-The construction process will be different from what is currently in place.

Here's my HOPE:

-It will usher in a new model line with modified bow and more edgy styling. But still offer the regular bow 'classic', Supra boats. Like the G series will be doing for CC.
-A 21' or less model will follow (PLEASE! some of us are dealing with length restricitons! haha)
-Pricing will remain in the neighborhood of where they are now.

Again, I have no more information than any of you, this is just my guess.

As far as the new Moomba model, I have no idea. But I like the idea of a smaller Mojo'ish boat.

Dealer Meeting is coming up, so hopefully we'll see something soon.

FunkyBunch 07-02-2012 9:08 AM

I know about the same as ripr, I have been talking with my dealer every time I am in for service "which is often lately" about this replacement for the 22ssv. I hope they have been moving in the same direction as Nautique we shall see.

polarbill 07-02-2012 9:28 AM

I like the idea of under the floor ballast with sort of plug and play option. It seems they could have 300's in each rear corner plus 500-600 up front that is all under the floor. That would be more then enough for most buyers. THen the plug and play bags can be added for all the wake snobs and surfers out there. If they keep the playpen seating or a variation of it they will be able to hide a lot in the front and I am sure the normal 750's or so in the rear.

It seems like Supra could work on their hull design. The same basic running surface has been around for a while it by all accounts their wakes have been finicky and steep. Also, you never hear supra mentioned when talking about great surf wakes. They have had the hull design for ever where the front half/entry is a really deep V and then abotu half way back the hull abrubtly changes to a flatter hull design. It will be interesting to see if they go to a deep V all the way back like MB, Sanger, Centuerion/Tige or go with a gradual change to a somewhat rounded hull at the transom like Malibu and Mastercraft.

I love seeing all the different new stuff out there.

jeff_mn 07-02-2012 9:32 AM

Any non-traditional bow should look like the Supreme. Flat scoop front boat. Looks better than all of this pickle fork and tri-hull looking trash.

slax303 07-02-2012 10:28 AM

Both the new Moomba and the new Supra are going to have big changes, and I think SC fans will be very pleased. The Supra is completely different from their norm.

07-02-2012 7:27 PM

Really looking forward to seeing both of these new boats. Gonna be a long few weeks until July 22

stang_killa_ss 07-02-2012 7:31 PM

man all the manufactures and our sport are REALLY stepping up this year!

wakeboardern1 07-03-2012 4:18 PM

Brett,

While I agree that the wake on a Supra can be finicky as hell, when you hit that sweet spot for how to weight it, both for boarding and surfing, you can get a killer wake. Well, at least from the old 24V. Not sure about others. I just know that the way we weight my boat gives it a wake with a long transition to a nice peak at the top that boots you straight up if you want, but will let you charge into the flats easily as well. Granted, we also put about 4k in weight in the thing, which helps.

On topic, I can't wait to see this new boat though. I doubt it will act as a replacement though. It would seem like a mistake to replace their 22 footer with something else, especially since it had one of their better wakes.

slax303 07-03-2012 5:23 PM

It won't be a replacement , just a brand new boat

hunter660 07-03-2012 6:12 PM

Sounds like Shane Stillman is having a HUGE impact on the wake industry to me.

ixfe 07-03-2012 9:35 PM

Shane is the man! No doubt his fingerprints will be all over this new creation. Can't wait to see it.

fman 07-03-2012 10:07 PM

When I sold my '08 22SSV I did NOT buy another 22 SSV for the following reasons:

- Poor wake under 23 MPH, always washed out on port side, really horrible at 18-19 mph. Wake is also super steep with little transition. My old knees and back did not care for this...
- No sub floor ballast with hard tanks and gauges
- Carpet in ski lockers and storage areas
- Sloped bow, always would take on water when bags filled up, sits low in water
-Grab rails on bow that are stout, the 21V front bow grab rails looks really good
-Wanted a warming tray above the engine
- No snap out carpet

I will be pumped for Skiers Choice if they upgraded the 22SSV with a new hull design and deck and added the above features I was looking for. I was bummed I did not purchase another one, the boat itself I really enjoyed.... my current boat meets all the above requirements I had.

Will be great to see what they have coming up...

jaybee 07-04-2012 3:23 PM

Not sure of the 22SSv but I rode Austin Hair's 2011 242 worlds a couple weeks ago and it was slammed and the wake was MONEY. Even at 22 mph. I was seriously shocked how a boat with so much weight (think it was 3000 over stock) could produce such a clean wake at 22 MPH. I actually progressed for the first time in a year and was able to add a grab to my 3 with so much time in the air.

I know exactly what you are saying though. I have a 2009 X2 and when you load it up you have to go at least 23 MPH depending on how many people are in the boat and I feel like 23 in that boat is like 25 on any other boat.

ripr 07-10-2012 10:37 AM

I have some new information....and all it really told me is Diggs will get one! Haha

12 days and we'll all be impressed.

tyler97217 07-10-2012 11:02 AM

...........boooo..... I was getting ready to email or message you and see if you would tell me the details....
You might be right though..... Will see what it is all about come 12 days. I really dig my 21V, so we will see.

pickle311 07-10-2012 1:55 PM

I'm hoping Moomba is updating the XLV. I think the LSV is fine and doesn't need an update yet. The XLV has never been changed from what I understand.

mark197 07-10-2012 2:40 PM

Word on the street is that the XLV is discontinued and the Mojo took its place. Also that the new boat will be a variation of the LSV.

chrisbucklin 07-11-2012 3:06 AM

I'm ordering the 242 worlds for 2013, wonder of this new one will b better??

07-11-2012 10:24 AM

I would wait on ordering that 242 until you see the new one after it's released on the 22nd. Just so you don't feel like you missed out ha.

jperkinsttu 07-11-2012 11:02 AM

I mean this thread should be longer than the G23 and Xstar by the 22nd haha. Better wake at 20-22 mph is my only complaint. Everything else I love already. Stoked to see what they bring out

FunkyBunch 07-11-2012 11:30 AM

SC is being so secretive it's hard for anybody to really know what it is haha. I'm betting it's gonna be sick though!

norwalkbeast 07-11-2012 1:47 PM

Watch this boat blow away the New X-star and G23 haha that would be impressive!! But I bet it will be pretty sick either way!

tyler97217 07-11-2012 8:12 PM

ohhh... boy... found some wake pics... Still can't get anyone to actually give me pics of the boat... Apparently these were from the photo shoot. Someone had to be on the lake and actually get a photo of the boat??????
Pics of the wake look good. Look like good steep Supra wake with a boot! Big too!
I have no idea speed, weight, rope length.....

mark197 07-12-2012 6:07 AM

Looks awesome:eek: SC I can't wait to see the complete boat!

Dmac420sj 07-12-2012 9:50 AM

I'm not trying to dirty Mac thE supra but that wake doesn't look huge to me. Seriously my v210 is really comparable to that with #2100 lbs and its a 2003!

Dmac420sj 07-12-2012 9:51 AM

Actually the first pic does look big but the others not so much

07-12-2012 10:18 AM

The first looks big because you have a reference point with the rider being next to it. Since he's in the air in the others you don't.

tyler97217 07-12-2012 10:54 AM

Yeah pretty hard to tell from pics, but it definitely looks big and from what everyone has said it is big. You never really know until you see it, but the pics are definitely a good start and the reference in the first pic and second pic surely support it being big.....

spencerwm 07-12-2012 11:05 AM

Shane knows what he is doing. No doubt in my mind that the Supra wake will be better than ever.

slax303 07-12-2012 7:44 PM

The Supra looks absolutely sick, and the wake is still clean down to 17-18mph (For Travis, who didn't like that about his 22V). Supra is definitely making the right changes, and stepping up their game in a big way

loudontn 07-12-2012 9:49 PM

Sick!

jperkinsttu 07-13-2012 3:28 AM

I'm guessing price tag will get a bump as well?

boomshot 07-13-2012 5:22 AM

It looks like the wake of a Ski Nautique 2001.
Good or bad, it does. Same shape, same size.

I am looking forward to see what skiers choice has come up with...

wolfe_drew 07-13-2012 7:37 AM

There is a new thread on the redesigned LSV that has some info on what is in storew for the Moomba line.

There is a lot of good speculation on the new Supra in this thread. :)

Diggs - oh, man! You and I may have to arm wrestle for the 1st one. Thru some extremely covert actions, I have seen a few pics and I am EXTREMELY happy that SC has Stillman on the payroll.

mark197 07-13-2012 8:29 AM

From the Moomba Forum.

http://www.moomba.com/msgboard/attac...6&d=1342180128

and Rick T

Ok..to help out alittle here - on the NEW LSV. 1. All Glass Floors with Snap out carpet. Storage areas - non carpeted 2. 1,800# ballast is standard(Combo of Tank and Bags). 3. Surf+ platform is standard.

tyler97217 07-13-2012 9:17 AM

boomshot - ha ha... Nautique 2001......... I love how you always try to rain on parades..... It's alright some of your posts are still funny.

Drew - It is ok. I will take the second one:rolleyes:

If all those upgrades are on the Moomba, I would think it is safe to say that will be coming with the Supra and then some????????

Just for fun.

lftaylor 07-13-2012 1:30 PM

Yeah Ryan Lewis and Supra hit a home run with this one. I got to ride this back in January and it was awesome when it was just a boat with plywood seats. I think everyone will be very happy. The wake is definitely big AND clean.

07-13-2012 1:36 PM

Anyone on here going to the reveal?

tyler97217 07-18-2012 6:39 AM

My dealer is going. Hopefully I will get some cell phone shots of it and I will post them as I get them (unless it is during the day and I am on the water).

07-18-2012 7:37 AM

I kinda hope they don't post cell phone pics since they never do the boats justice.

ripr 07-18-2012 7:54 AM

The reveal will be at 7pm on Sunday night. If you guys don't want me to post pics on here from the reveal, I won't. But, I should be able to get some good pics with my 4S. I'll probably put some out on Facebook though.

Monday I should get a chance to get out on the boat, so I should be able to get some wakeshots and first hand feedback.

polarbill 07-18-2012 7:59 AM

I got to talk on the phone with Shane a couple days ago about something else but he mentioned the new boat. He didn't give me any specifics but said it isn't going to be tradiotional like the current supra's. He said it is around 22' and best of all isn't going to be a huge battleship like the G23 or some of the newer boats. It is going to still look like a ski/wakeboard boat and not a bloated runabout with a tower. I really can't wait to see this boat and the new LSV. For those who haven't gotten the chance I will tell you that Shane is a great guy to chat with. I have a feeling Skier's Choice is going to make some major waves with him there, especially if they can stay in/close to their price range now since the Supra's are all priced less then mastercraft, malibu, nautique, centurion and tige.

mark197 07-18-2012 8:32 AM

That sounds awesome Brett, all of these new boats look like whales, LOL.

NAW definitely post pictures if you get them.

hunter660 07-18-2012 8:37 AM

I talked on the from with Shane while he was still at MB. Super nice guy and spent the time to answer all my questions and even listen to my suggestions, some of which got made.

Dmac420sj 07-18-2012 9:13 AM

Anyone know supras general price range in California ?

FunkyBunch 07-18-2012 9:42 AM

I would guess this boat would be from the low to mid 60's with no options to high 70's loaded out with upgraded motor. But that is just guessing.

I am interested to see what is different if it is not like any of the whale boats and yet its not like their current line up?

07-18-2012 9:58 AM

You can tell it's not "whaleish" from the Shock and Awe teaser, or at least I can. Looks really sleek to me and my guess would be a different bow judging by the outline of it

I'm pretty sure the MSRP's are nationwide numbers. In that case, for 2012 they ranged from $65K (Sunsport 20V) up to $79K (Launch 242).

Those numbers include trailer, Indmar 325, VISION system w/ cruise control, 3 bag auto ballast, wakeplate, tower w/ swing in board racks, Polk audio w/ six cabin speakers and amp.

boomshot 07-18-2012 11:27 AM

That video was the same video that was done, by a sponsored rider, before every new boat released in the last 6 years.
Murray did one about the 210
Byerly did one about the 210
Zane has done a bunch of these for X-Star, CSX, and so on...

Murray even did a video like that about the OLD 226!

So, yeah not impressed.

Well I would also say at this point it is supposed to unlike anything they have had so far. So something needs to be different other than just the Mojo nose. Guess we shall see in a few days.

07-18-2012 12:08 PM

Judging by that teaser it doesn't look like a Mojo nose at all, just my .02

I would agree as well.

I just don't see much so far that's worlds different from their other boats. If the wake pictures are accurate and from all accounts they are that is the biggest change outside of the top deck that I can imagine at this point. I will be excited to try it the wake and check out what I think will be a new and improved interior.

polarbill 07-18-2012 12:19 PM

I am interested to see if they did anything with under floor ballast and went away from their traditional hull design and brought the V all the way back to the transom. Maybe a better surf boat as well?

FunkyBunch 07-18-2012 12:24 PM

Bill I think you will probably get one or both of those and from the looks of the blacked out image they dumped the sloped nose as well to help handle more of that weight for the more inexperienced drivers.

I didn't really mean the deck portion. I was considering the below the water line. Almost all Supra's for a long time have a very similar hull bottom. Towards the bow the hull has a very steep V and then about half way back it abruptly changes to a flatter bottom boat. I am just wondering if this has to do with most of the Supra's as having a somewhat steep and finicky wake. Also I wonder if it has to do with none of the Supra's really being considered great surf boats. It would be interesting to see if they would go to a deeper V all the way to the transom like a Sanger, Tige, MB, Centurion, etc... All the boats mentioned seem to be elite level(if there is such a thing) surf boats and most also seem to be very, very good wakeboard boats. Also, I wonder if with a deep V all the way to the transom it allows more room for the engine to be dropped lower. This might not have a great advantage but it would allow for more room above the engine which in turn could be used for a deeper walkthrough(think G23) and warming trays. It also may allow more room for a larger midship fuel tank although I am not sure Supra's or Moomba's need any bigger fuel tanks.

Yeah, not sure how I missed that. Looks like it keeps the V going back and gradually flattens out although stays somewhat of a V towards the transom. Hard to tell from the pics though.

Anybody notice the tower looks kind of like the new tower on teh nautiques/G23?

Bill sorry I ran two thoughts in to one sentence. I think you will get the v bottom to the rear of the boat and in doing that I think it will give them more space to add under the floor ballast. I also noticed that the nose does not swoop down like the 242 and 22. I think the current S bend towers are coming from the same maker as the nauty so it would not surprise me to see that g23 tower as an option here to.

Without the deep V and flat rear maybe my drain plug will work to. Especially with all the invasive species checks every where now.

The S-Bends are from Roswell, so that probably makes sense

All good things. I like the looks of the sbend tower more then the progressive tower. Especially with the bimini. I think they should throw the sbend tower on the Moomba's and ditch the evolution and other tower that is on them now.

Love the sbend. Hoping that some 2012 come up for sale really quick once the new one starts taking orders haha. I don't mind the steepness of the wake I just hope that it is less finicky from someone sitting an inch one way or the other. Gets a little ridiculous to dial in sometimes.
