Trailer safety cables...

I just towed, for the 1st time, with my new 2013 F150. I have a 2003 Sanger V230 on a VM trailer. The safety cable hooks would not fit through the hitch? Has anyone experienced this and what do you recommend? New safety cables, or just some S hooks to adapt them?

pretty common issue on a lot of hitches, easiest fix is to use a set of 4 inch shackles. On my fords and my new tundra, I just leave them hanging there to make hooking the cable hooks quick and easy.

Plus One On Leaving Some Trailering Shackles

Make sure your shackles are rated for the weight. If your trailer jumps off the ball or your hitch breaks there is a serious jolt to the cables or chains. If you go to Home Depot or some other hardware store and pick up shackles make sure they are strong enough.

Trust me. You want those safety cables. Mine saved my rear end last month. Story and pics to follow.... Not sure when I want to relive it to post it though....
