Stereo Set Up
Ok so I currently have 4 speakers (helm, rear seats) on my boat and I would like to go to 6 (adding 2 in the bow) with the option of possibly adding a sub in the future. Speakers are Polk DB651's
My question is everything is being powered from the head unit right now. Would it be best to get 4 channel amp to power the 4 rear most speakers as it noisier and a larger space? I know I can also run the speakers in series and parallel but I know the sound will suffer and I also not sure if this would negatively effect the head units life span. As I mentioned I may add a sub in the future (would love to if budget permits) but this is not a huge factor right now. Also unfortunately there is a budget to keep in mind but I would like a little flexability for the future if posible. Thanks |
Really not a single idea.....Guess I should have named the thread wetsounds....lol

IMHO get away from the head unit and get a good amp. Better quality and better performance out of the system.

I run a 4 channel for the main cabin and just use HU for the bow for the reason you mention (noisier in the back). My HU also lets me turn the built-in amp off (killning sound to the bow) while still driving the preamp outputs. This way I can kill the music in the bow if the wife and kids are up there, and still crank it for me in the drivers seat.
