I have a 90 Sanger with a 5.7 litre Mercury with a Mallory distributor. The rotor shows as no longer available. Is there a replacement available, or am I going to have to change it over to electronic? Is there a conversion for this distributor or do I have to change the whole distributor? I've done a little research on the net and have only become more confused. Any info will help hopefully. Thanks, Kerry

So is the Mallory factory? I have never seen one but then again that doesn't mean much.

You can easily change it back to a Chevy factory type distributer, just make sure the advance curve is correct.

Bite the bullet and change it out for a electronic set up. I changed over on my last boat and it made a big difference in the way it started and ran. I think it was about 550.00. and worth every penny.

The Mallory unilite conversion works well too, probably a drop in with a Mallory distributor. It will make a big difference.

The $100 points conversion kit from Overtons did wonders for my Prescolite distributor. Super easy install too.

I have a supra with 454 and I scrapped the mallory and put on a stock H.E.I. (You can find them on any chevy V8 from the mid 70's to the 80's.)Put a 50,000 volt tune up kit on it and its strong enough for any dragster, super reliable, and it has better gas mileage. If your 5.7 is a 350 (GM) and not a 351 (ford) it would be super easy with a little common sence. But I heard you can do the same with fords Version of the High Energy Ignition. If you have any questions just google it you should be able to find instructions. (I also put a chevy H.E.I. From a 250 c.i.d on my jeeps 4.2 ltr. works great)
