Good deal, but, FM Transmitter = Crappy sounding music.

dakid 01-29-2008 10:52 AM

direct connect if your stereo has an aux input. also, i installed one in frankie's car using a wired fm transmitter. not crappy at all. sounds good w/ no static what-so-ever.

bcmach 01-29-2008 10:53 AM

You have the option to hard wire it if you have the input, thats what I did.

For that price, I will give it a try in the boat. Best Buy had mixed reviews though.

I second J-Rod. Direct connect is the way to go, boat and car. I had an FM transmitter and finally got fed up. Wasn't so much the static as much as not as clear sound.

Everyone has their own standards for quality of music delivery. Some lower than others...

I just installed one in my brothers car, one in my sisters car, and I am installing one in my truck tonight. The FM transmitter sounds like crap so I would suggest either using a aux hookup or a wired transmitter (which you have to buy separate for $20). The interface works really well and you can scroll through music fast. The screen is not amazing, but it was 10 degrees out when I installed both units so it could have effected the quality of the screen. It takes some time to get used to the controls but I like how it works. The install is also pretty easy and the unit includes extra mounts for the controller, two ways to power it (wired and cigarette plug in), and plenty of extra wire for the screen, control knob and the iPod hook up. Either way, its worth the 20 bucks.

How much would it be (or where would you find one) to get an aux hook-up for a factory HU in a Ford that doesn't have an auxiliary input?

loudsubz 01-29-2008 12:23 PM

does it charge your ipod aswell?

midwesthouse 01-29-2008 12:24 PM

I looked into one of them from my brothers honda element and the cheapest one was 70 dollars. Just buy the wired transmitter for 20 dollars and it plugs into the spot on your radio where your antenna does. Then your plug your antenna into that and you have a wired connection.

any other reviews on this unit? How about from the guys who have it in their wakeboats? Any issues?

I dont care too much about fancy bells and whistles, just wanted a unit to charge my ipod and play via AUX to my preamp.
