I'm looking at purchasing an 05 x-star, should I be aware of anything about that model year. I heard it doesn't turn as well as the 06-07 models and, mechanically, it might have a few problems. Thanks.

Sorry Joe just can't wait for the 21 foot epic to come out.

nothing. check to make sure you get the new rudder on it for better handling. Otherwise no other wake compares.

Know a guy who has about 500 hours on his ( bought brand new) runs 3500lb + people 3-4 times a week and is burning alot of oil ( 1 quart month) and now having motor problems (very sluggish and will soemtimes just die). Has also had to have the fuel pump replaced a few times.

If the motor is the 8.1L the oil burning is a well known Chevy issue, not Mastercraft.

It's the stock motor...which I don't think is the 8.1

I hate the 05 X-Stars. They are horrible. Everytime I am out in my aluminum fishing boat... I end up having to swim to shore because the wake capsizes me!

That's the kind of problem that I don't mind having.

i have had an 05 for nearly 2-1/2 years now. i have the new rudder, new prop, new software for perfect pass throttle by wire. i have 380 hours on the boat. the only issues i have had were the in-tank fuel pump (who hasn't?) and flex plate. the mcx 350 hp engine has been absolutely flawless and with the new rudder pulls better than anything else i have driven. overall, i would say it is the best boat i have driven or ridden behind although i haven't been behind very many high-end boats. if the price is right go for it. the 05 was the first year with the swivel board racks and drive by wire electronic throttle, neither of which have given me any trouble. good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Had my 06 for a season now with a 100 hrs and love the boat. The perfect pass could work a little better. It takes to long for the speed to stabilize. It might just be an adjustment. Other that that the MCX is a great engine and I'm very satisfied.

One other thing I don't like is the looks from the fisherman when we go by, they all looked pissed and wet.

(Message edited by paulw on September 06, 2007)
