Insurance question?

If a boat is damaged while on the trailer, lets say launching it or towing it would it be covered by the boat insurance or car?

I think your car insurance covers it if you are towing, but not positive

Car insurance if your towing. Home owners if it's sitting in the garage or driveway.

hmm, anyone have to use their car insurance cause damage was made while towing?

The car policy's liability extends to the trailer while in-tow, but not damage to the boat. In other words, if you back the trailer into another car, your car policy will cover, if you damage the boat while launching, it would have to be covered by the boat's policy, if it was covered.

And in most states, the HO policy will NOT cover anything with a motor bigger then a lawn mower....... cars, boats, planes, motorcycles, etc, have their own policy, doesnt matter if they are parked in the yard.

I had similar situation where the boat was damaged while in the garage. HO did not cover it. The damages were picked up by my boat insurance. My agent informed me the same as what Tigemike said. They do not cover motorized vehicles valued over 5k in my gagarge. Wierd, but whatever, it got handled.

TIgamike is 100% correct. Auto coverage is liability only while boat is conntected to tow vehicle. All physical damage coverage will be on the boat policy.
