Rudder position indicator
Is anyone using one of the Davis brand rudder position indicators. The kind that sell for about $30 and go in the center of your steering wheel? I was going to buy one but the reviews are pretty bad. I put one on a boat I owned about 10 years ago and it worked great. Anyone using one? Know of another brand that works better. Seems like maybe the quality isn't the same as 10 years ago.

Why would you need a rudder position indicator?

Not to be harsh, but learn to drive? I know where my rudder is at all time, never have any doubt. If you don't, you're doing it wrong.

I drive just fine. Been driving inboard boats for almost 30 years. Not so much for me, but for my wife who tows me and drives about 5% of the time. Trying to help getting pulled up with the wheel 2 turns to the left or right. But thanks for jacking the thread!!!

I would want for others in the boat driving, not me! My Bro does a great job pulling.. but he doesnt understand two turns from far side..

Brad...thats exactly what I was looking for one for. Same reason the next boat will have perfect pass. It's not for when I'm driving!!!!

How can you tell if the wheel has been turned 360 degrees one way or the other when the boat is not moving?
