I searched a bit, and haven't found too much usable info regarding my mini DV problem...

I've got mini DV tape, shot by and given to me by some family in Europe. I want to get it onto my computer for editing and playback. Placing the DV tape into my camera gets no playback, unless you count seeing some pixelated images at fast forward speeds. I believe the tape is PAL and my DV cam is NTSC.

So what are my options? Is it best to try and find a local place to convert my PAL to NTSC?

thanks

Yes it will be cheaper to enlist the service of place that already has the equipment. I found the following place by doing a search in google for "PAL to NTSC miniDV conversion"

http://www.world-import.com/conversion.htm
Scroll down to the "mini-DV Tape Conversions" section.. looks like it will cost you $17.99
