Wadded Up

After 15 years of riding street bikes, I took my first slide across the blacktop Friday at 50-60 mph. Shouldn't have happened. I believe the overly soft front suspension was to blame for the front wheel washing out, because the bike was no where near it's limit.

Anyway....full gear (like always) I slid for about 40-50 feet, stood up, laughed, and kept riding. The recently installed frame slider saved the bike. The recently installed exhaust is history!

I shared a few pics below.

HOLY CHIT.... Happy to hear you are okay....that is scary stuff...

sucky sucky sucks sucks... sorry to see that. Glad you had kit on. I've lost the front end doing about the same speed, walked way and rode home. Good gear is key.

ATGATT!! Good stuff, glad your safe. I just lowsided on Mosquito Ridge Road last weds. Front forks are done, and right side/front plastics are trashed. But thank god for gear right? I limped away from an otherwise painful incident.

Glad to hear you walked away uninjured.

As for the remains... TRACK BIKE!:D

When I see people riding around in shorts and flip flops I wonder if they realize this?

Glad to see you walked away un-scathed.

westsiderippa 08-09-2010 11:57 PM

just glad your alright pimp

jarrod 08-10-2010 7:06 AM

Yeah Cliff. I had the bike insured also. I should be getting a hefty check for the damage. I'll make minimal repairs and prep for the track.

Thank god for good gear. As mentioned above, I can't believe people ride in shorts and tee shirts. Even with full gear, crashing at 60mph is very risky. Glad you are alright.

That's one way to get those Dainese leathers you always wanted.

rsanchez 08-10-2010 10:52 PM

Wow! I laid down a ninja 250 at 85 with a jacket, gloves, and helmet, now I won't ride a motorcycle without full gear... Hehe, plenty of scars. You should be able to ebay replacement parts pretty cheap and good call on the frame sliders.

"should be able to ebay replacement parts pretty cheap "

Aprilia stuff is harder to come by. But, the new tail section and replacement slider should be here by Friday. I'll be back on the road this weekend.

gunz 08-11-2010 6:53 AM

Good thing you were wearin the gear.

As an owner of many things Italian (Ducati and Ferrari) I completely agree, I was being really sarcastic, my bad for not expressing that more haha.

lizzyb 08-11-2010 8:33 AM

Glad you're okay Jarrod.

jarrod 08-11-2010 9:05 AM

Ah got it!

What I'm looking for now is a good suspension guy in the bay area to come adjust my suspension.

Thanks Liz

Those italians are super proud of their plastic.

Jarrod, how about Dave Moss?
