Where do I buy tires online for cheap
 

I am looking for some nice A/T tires with a M/T look in either 35x12.50R18 or 305/70R18. From what I have found I can pretty much get any brand of tire for $330 each on average. I was hopping to find a kick butt deal for about $250 a tire. I need 4 by the way. I like the Dick Cepek F-C II and the Pro-Comp xtreme T/A's so far. Any help would be great.

I usually stick with tirerack.com They're pricing is pretty good.

i have been down this road. Once you price out 4 tires and then add shipping, you really aren't going to save that much. Plus, if you do buy a tire warranty you have to take the tire to their specific tire shop.

I would rather buy times from Discount Tire Co. and pay a couple dollars more and have the warranty at all their locations.

I would also suggest Discount Tire. I bought there in December and was very happy.

If you go to ebay, Discount tire has a site on there where you can get tires for about 10-15% less than at the stores, plus free shipping. And if you have a cashback account through Bing you can usually get about 8-10% back. I bought some tires for my magnum this way and saved about $100 total that included mount and balance. They have a number on ebay too and are very helpful.

This is what I do. I go to tirerack.com and decide which tires I want. Search around to find the best price which usually is tirerack.com, then call Discount Tire, which is America's Tire company here in CA and ask them to order the tires and price match, which they always do.

For my commuter car I just buy dealer take offs for half what a set of tires alone would cost, then resell the old alloy wheels for a few bucks.

I dont have any website ideas, but I noticed you said you needed 4. Do you have a spare? I suggest keeping a spare attached to the trailer. Nothing ruins a trip like a blown tire on the way to the lake. Thats like 2 hours of riding spent waiting for help.

A blown tire didn't ruin my trip last year, it was the stripped out studs on the wheel hub that did..... I guess the heat from the 2.5 hour drive made the metal expand and before I realized what was going on I'd stripped the studs when taking off the wheel. Luckily I had a friend close by to help out.

very good suggestions, I don't need a spare, I have one under my truck. It is full size. I am leaning towards what Peter C suggested. That is also the direction my research has pointed me. Although if I was looking for a more common tire, say a car tire, these routes suggested probably would be money.

This is the best tire buying trick out there...

If you have a Discount Tire Store in town go there and price the tire that you want.

Now go to Discount Tire Direct and price the same tire.

Now take which ever price is lower to the other store, if your local tire store is cheaper, just call Discount Tire Direct... Otherwise take the print out from Discount Tire Direct to your local store and they will be the price. Then fax that quote back to DIscount Tire Direct...

THEY WILL get into a pricing war with one another and the price usually comes down about 30% from the best original quote.

This works every time, I am in Phoenix and have been doing this for 10 years for all my trucks. All my friends do it now too...

BTW, Discount Tire Direct will send the stores to the local store free of charge and the local store will install them free of charge too, if you ask...

Costco has good deals on tires. I get my BFG All Terrains there...

Well I pulled the trigger. This was all good info for me, but the problem I had is that since the tires I am buying arenot the run of the mill mini van tires or family car, I had problems finding AT tires. Places like tire rack and america tires just didn't give me enough selection. They mostly had mudders and I needed all terrian. Also any savings I was getting by buying through the net was lost on shipping. So I found a coupon for free mount and balance through 4Wheelparts and ended up with Pro-Comp Extreme AT's 35/12.50R18. I will post a pic of the truck as soon as they are installed. Thanks again for all the input.

I have had good luck with Tirerack and Costco. Pepboys was offering a 4 fro 3 type of deal a while back. Might wanna check them out
