Where do I get one?!?! any online shops got good deals on them right now??? Are they called something else ever? cant seem to find them on ebay really... Also how crucial do you think it is to have one at OWC this time of year??? THANKS!!!

silvermustang35 12-17-2008 9:41 AM

Try a dive shop...Thats where I got mine...In the off season may be somebody that would have it..depends on the area I guess...

sidekicknicholas 12-17-2008 9:47 AM

I trucked it at OWC all winter last year and it was only cold at night... you don't NEED one, but they are kinda nice.... making a trip down south? If so when will you be there?

j_money 12-17-2008 9:51 AM

Me and a couple buddys are tossin around the idea of goin early january... like 3rd threw 8th or somethin. you gonna be there???

mike2001 12-17-2008 10:02 AM

Try searching ebay with "wetsuit" and looking through those results. Alot of people probably don't know them as heater tops. Anyway, I ended up getting one from evogear.

wakeboardern1 12-17-2008 10:05 AM

buywake has them. I just got a billabong foil from them, and it's being sent down to OWC so that I can pick it up when I get there in a couple of days.

I'll be wearing one at O-dub just cause I don't feel like toughing chilly water even remotely. I mean, it's cool and all, but at this point, being warm is higher on my list of priorities.

You really don't need anything til water drops down to the mid 60s.

cavlxenvy 12-17-2008 10:13 AM

The O'Neill gooru glide tops are pretty sick.

j_money 12-17-2008 10:14 AM

Your headin down there Nick!?!?! sweet! Make sure and let me know how it goes!!! You been there before???

wakeboardern1 12-17-2008 10:19 AM

Yup, I will. And no, I haven't. I'll probably eat it quite a few times, but it's going to be awesome. I'm beyond stoked.

j_money 12-17-2008 10:20 AM

Right on dude!!! Youll have a blast!!! Ill watch for pictures on facebook!!! your rockin the 143 lyman right?!?!?!

j_money 12-17-2008 10:21 AM

.5mm to thin???

sidekicknicholas 12-17-2008 10:23 AM

Yup.... I'll be down there from Dec 26th - Jan 22rd or so.... if you get down here you'll have to give me a call

j_money 12-17-2008 10:28 AM

riding with Will again or what???

wakeboardern1 12-17-2008 10:37 AM

Nah, I'll be riding my covenant there. I know the chances of breaking the Lyman are slim to none, but my dad doesn't know that I bought the board, and he'll get pretty angry if he finds out, even if it was with my own money. If I can find a pull down there as well I may bring my Watson too...

Plus the Lyman is locked up in the club's gear trailer, wherever it is. Sick board though, I just can't seem to stick any landings on it, I'm just used to how wide the Watson is...

j_money 12-17-2008 10:39 AM

Right on dude! well thanks for the input and hope you have an absolute blast down there!!!

sidekicknicholas 12-17-2008 10:41 AM

Yup, she is putting me up again for a few weeks

j_money 12-17-2008 10:45 AM

must be tough....

sidekicknicholas 12-17-2008 10:49 AM

haha, yeah.... sucks this winter is only 4 weeks not 4 months.... oh well.

j_money 12-17-2008 10:51 AM

Better than nothin!!! well dude ill def, shoot you a text if I get down there! hopefully this time we can meet up! do you know if .5mm is to thin of a top for down there???

sidekicknicholas 12-17-2008 10:54 AM

Shoot, I don't know much about that stuff.... as long as it is sunny I wouldn't worry.... riding at night is another story

behindtheboat 12-17-2008 11:17 AM

Get a 1.5 and you'll use it more than you realized. Sometimes even on a cold summer morning

j_money 12-17-2008 11:37 AM

so .5mm is way to thin. I was lookin at an oneill one...

wakeboardern1 12-17-2008 11:44 AM

Turns out the BB Foil that I got is a 2 MM. I'll let you know how that feels when I get down there.

behindtheboat 12-17-2008 11:47 AM

no, i take it back, it's not way too thin. .5mm would be good. It would help and be a lot better than nothing. I would suggest using one for sure though, in my experience you don't not want to have one, and you will be much more comfortable overall. The water is chilly, and if there is a wind it's cold.

j_money 12-17-2008 11:56 AM

right on! last time I was there I think it was march or april I trunked it. Thats pry a little warmer then now but even if its not windy around the turns you can sure get some wind from the whip of the cable. Ill def. pick up a top then. Thanks for all the input guys!!!

jboard1 12-18-2008 8:24 AM

I've always called them hot-tops [not sure if thats an official name tho]. The Oneil ones are pretty sweet. They are great for Fall riding in the northwest.

stephan 12-18-2008 9:59 AM

Does anyone else prefer a long sleeve spring suit? I like heater tops but have found that a little cushion and warmth for the fellas is very nice.

mcook77 12-18-2008 10:01 AM

Anyone know the name of heater shirt that has the zipper front?

Think I saw it on one of those "day in the life" videos posted here of a wakeskater.

tribute 12-18-2008 11:15 AM

what is a heater top? i live in Dubai where it only gets down to like 14 at the coldest. so ive never really heard of this stuff.
Thanks

esako 12-18-2008 11:43 AM

I found them online at this site. You will have to scroll down the page a little past the drysuits but they have some ONeill, Hyperlite, and Ten-80.
http://www.waterskis.com/Wetsuits-Drysuits-Rash-Guards-s/4.htm
