Here is one a friend made. I believe he is going to start selling them as just a hobby. I think he used 1 1/2 inck square steel and put some plumbing insulation over it. He's calling them Nickel Racks due to he is capping the foam paddings at the end of the supports with nickels. A couple of weekends ago, I organized my garage a little. I built a snowboard and ski rack using 1" dowling drilled and glued into a piece of 1X4, then attached them to the wall. I was trying to do the same thing for wakeboards, but saw some bike hangers at Lowes. I used 2 - 2x12's. <BR>I wanted to make sure that I we didn't have to take the bindings off. I can hold 6 boards with bindings and they just drip dry. <BR>I painted the rack the same as the garage. I used 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint to ensue that water penetration would be very little. <BR>Mounted it to the studs in the wall and was good to go! <BR>KG <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/98771.jpg" alt="">

Someone stole my camera but, I took four 8' pieces of 2x4 - 2 for uprights to tie into the studs on the wall and two to chop up which I then measured how long my supports should be. Then cut each support on a chopsaw at 15 degrees at each end - into a parallelogram. Then attached the board supports (4"up 2"wide) to my 8' 2x4's that I then attached to the wall. With about 16" between each I have four racks and about 14 boards on there - binding up binding down with wakeskates and bindingless boards in between. Of course Attach board supports to wall supports then attach each rack to the studs. Used a nail gun and drill.

Hey Steven - How are those racks mounted to the wall? It looks sweet that there's no support beam going across the middle. I cut and sanded my project today, and although the racks are wood, they basically look like what you posted a pic of. <BR> <BR>I was trying to think of how to mount them to the wall, and hadn't decided on 1) cut out a 2" gap in the back of each rack to flush mount them to a 2x4 that is bolted on the wall, or 2) bolt the 2x4 onto the wall and simply mount the racks onto the outside edge of the 2x4 and screw them togther. <BR> <BR>I like the clean appearance of the racks in your pic, so if you know how they did that, let me know.

The alluminum rack has a 2" fold at the base with screw holes in it.

Has anyone ever used these? I found them on ebay, they are made of a polyurethane plastic and are fairly cheap. I'm debating buying something similiar to this or building my own. wow steven whoevers garage that is , def. kicks ass!

k state - not sure, but it seems like those dont stick out far enough (distance from the wall) for a wakeboard. looks like not enough of the weight of the wakeboard would be resting on the mount and instead would be in the air.

Well actually I'll only have one wakeboard on there and the rest will be skis so that's not that big of a deal... <BR> <BR>I can't find a website of the company that makes these so I'm a little hesitant to buy on ebay...

The sides are 37 1/2" apart (to fit outside my bindings which are out as wide as they go). Oh yeah, my gf went to Kstate. Not that she'd know you, but when were you there? <BR> <BR><b>Harry</b> - I don't own a wakeskate, but if I did ever decide to buy one, I'd probably just bolt on a little add on "mini-rack" in the center of the lowest rack. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by tparider on February 18, 2004)
