I am gonna get me a new board. I ride a LF trip 143, I have been looking at the gator boards. I have it down to two, 142 caddy, and the prospect 141. I like the trip, but would like something a little more free roaming. Any help on this would be great.

idk that trip is a classic, id prolly stick with that over the other choices. what do you mean free roaming?
|
maybe I said that wrong, I am talking about how aggressive it is. I like it dont get me wrong, but I would like to try something different and maybe not as aggressive.

take some of the fins off, ie the center fins... try riding it finless
|
to me the prospect has more "grip" to the water, not nearly as nimble as the trip. the prospect has good snap off the wake as well. try taking the center fin out of the trip and ride the outer cupped fins. I have been riding the trip/team/lyman boards for a while this way.I don't even bother bolting in the center one. this is just my opinion. try it you might like it. Cant go wrong either way

.....if you want less aggression, are you saying less speed more control?...if so get a board with a bigger rocker(slower ride) and continuous( predictable consistant smooth pop)....which the caddy fits.
|
Thanks for the info...Gonna order me a new board, hopefully hitting the water in a couple weeks.

Lyman might fit the bill well as it was designed after the trip in mind. i have ridden both and thought the lyman was surprisingly loose despite its multiple fins.

as for the gator boards, not so sure what to say as i have not ridden them. the description on the caddy says, "Cupped, full-length center channels give this board more control" which makes me think it might be pretty grippy and not so "roamy" ???

as for "roamy," the (mostly) featureless bottoms of many of the flex boards make them the "roamiest" boards i know of and super fun to ride too. slingshot response, company recruit, humanoid oracle (when it comes out) or even the ROAM ;)

(Message edited by wakerider111 on February 16, 2009)

Go for the Prospect 141!

lyman

just saw the two gator boards in a shop recently. the prospect has more defined beveled edges on each side of the belly and would be more forgiving and easier to slide around in that respect... at least so i'd imagine
