1st cut out of the wake and keep your edge pretty steady get about 15-18 ft outside of wake and then coast for a second or 2 and let the board slow down and everything. then start your edge back and keep progressing it harder and harder till u get back 2 the wake and when u get the top of it "push off" of it like doing an ollie basically..u can start off going about 10 feet 2 make u feel comfortable with the edging and everything like that

If you edge right, you'll find there's no reason to cut out 15 feet. I can cut out 5 feet, and clear the wake without any problem. You just have to make sure your approach is right.

Do like Aaron said, cut out and coast before you make your approach. Once you start your cut toward the wake, really concentrate on keeping you heelside edge buried, your knees slightly bent, and your weight evenly distributed. Remember to continually build speed, if you slow down, or let off, you'll get the feeling that you're tripping over the wake. Once you feel yourself starting to travel upwards (before you leave the wake), simply straighten out your legs, and you should gain another foot or two in pop. It's so simple, but for some reason, a lot of people tend to overlook the importance of their approach. Give it a try, and let me know if you can tell any difference.

So i dont jump at all right? I just push off! So i start with my knees bent then cut in hard and right once i get to the top of the wake just push of with my legs? But it sounds like im jumping if i push off after my knees are bent!

its basically jumping but u just dont get out of control with it just dont push very hard or u will end up on your back with your feet in front of u just get comfortable with your speed and everything and then you just gotta learn the correct technique by practicing daily...anyone got any tips on higher ollies(sorry bout messin up the thread a bit) aaron

You don't want to jump off the wake, you simply want to straighten out your knees, so that your legs are extended, before you leave the wake. I'm not exactly sure what causes the added pop, but it has something to do with sinking the board, and the boat pulling you forward through the wake. If you try to actually jump off the wake you'll end up squirly, without any height. You got to remember that you're moving at 20+ mph. When you try to jump, you stop all your momentum, by pushing straight down. It's almost like jumping out of a car at 20+ mph, and trying to land without falling down... Something like that, but different.

I know that's not the best description, but maybe it'll help. Anyone got any more advice?

-Blake
