I cant believe folsom aint eve 50%+ full and they are knee jerking by letting too much water out instead of rising it is lowering <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/angry.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>WTF!!!!!! <BR> <BR>I wish I could get my hands around those who control the flood gates!
Folsom is 2/3s full. They're letting water out because it's 9% higher than normal for this time of year.
<a href="http://cdec.whttp://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryDaily?FOLater.ca.gov/cgi-progs/current/RES" target="_blank">http://cdec.whttp://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryDaily?FOLater.ca.gov/cgi-progs/current/RES</a> <BR> <BR>these are the links yes I was wrong folsom is 66% but that is still not even close to being full, otherwise we'll end up like every year with boats being pulled out of the marina and not being able to boat come Sept yes Sept!! <BR> <BR>They need to quit with the knee jerk reaction! <BR>and if they need to let water out during the salmon season then they can release from shasta also, not just folsom! <BR>
Do the words "flood control" mean anything to you? Did you see the rain this weekend? Have you seen the snowpack this year? <BR> <BR>I know that it just seems wrong but their concerns are much different then ours. Now if they let too much out in June then it's something to get upset over.
Can you still drink on the lake? I heard that they do not allow it anymore?
nope no drinking on the lake still, flood control yeah but I grew up here so I can tell you we aint near flooding its takes alot of rain in a short period of time and they let a ton of water out during the summer months!
I think it was 2 yrs ago when they waited to long to let water out and let to much out too late and killed a lot of Salmon after they spawned? I could be wrong? <BR> <BR>You can drink on your boat, not on the beach though
Folsom suck!! <BR>- bad water <BR>- no drinking <BR>- Three rangers on one small lake all the time. <BR> <BR>Just my three cents
If I <i>LIVED</i> on Folsom Lake, I would still drive elsewhere to ride. Maybe the Pacific Ocean, or the San Francisco bay!
Yes you can drink on the lake, just not on shore. The reason we ran out of water last year was because of the amount of water they had to let out during the summer ( levy break ). This year it will be full. Unfortunately they spotted 3 great white sharks in Folsom last week so no riding this year....M.

You can NOT drinnk on the lake. Several years ago the prohibited drinking on the shore then they spread it to the entire lake. Although I don't think they make it a priority, Folsom Lake is a NO ALCOHOL lake. When I first saw the signs go up saying no alcohol on the shore or on the lake, I asked a park ranger.
From the Folsom Lake Web Site <BR> <BR>Yes you can drink on the lake in your boat!!<a href="http://www.folsomlakemarina.com/alcohol.html" target="_blank">http://www.folsomlakemarina.com/alcohol.html</a> <BR> <BR>New Alcoholic Beverage Policy <BR>Planned for Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma <BR>In an effort to enchance public safety and combat increasing law enforcement problems, California State Parks will prohibit consumption of alcoholic beverages in all day use areas at Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma, effective March 1, 2003. <BR> <BR>This policy prohibits the consumption of alcohol or possession of an open continer of alcohol in any day use and lake surface areas of the park. <BR>Exceptions to the policy are: <BR> <BR> <BR>Registered campers within a designated campground <BR> <BR> <BR>Within a vessel Floating on the lake surface, but not touching shore <BR> <BR> <BR>Permitted Special Events in designated areas. <BR>An open container is defined as any bottle, can or other receptacle containing any alcoholic which has been opened, or seal broken, or the contents which have been partially removed. <BR>

I know what the site says, and I've wondered why they have not updated it, but when you get to the lake, the signs and the rangers will tell you that it better not be in your boat either. Lots of people still do it, and get away with it. But I personally woudn't crack open a frosty one right in front of a sheriff or ranger.
call the Folsom marina like I just did and they will tell you the same thing. Alcohol is legal to drink in your boat. The link I posted is accurate. The sign is wrong.916-933-1300.bottom line. even that alcohol is legal ON YOUR BOAT AT FOLSOM do not drink and drive. It is illegal and unsafe. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by michale on March 22, 2005)

I was wrong. I just called the rangers office and they said 500 ft off shore and your OK. That contradicts what the signs say and what I was told last year by a park ranger.
I for once am happy that I am wrong<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/smile.gif" border=0> Although 500 ft offshore pretty much limits drinking a beer in any of the good wakeboarding areas.

amazing....i love when know it alls are shut down and proven to not know jack! I live near Folsom and go often (not an excuse, i know) and have never been told drinking on the water was illegal...not even by my father who is a LT w/ El Do County. I think you guys got BS'd by a Ranger that would like to see no drinking as it would obviously make his life easier. Believe what you KNOW, not what you hear!

"amazing....i love when know it alls are shut down and proven to not know jack! " <BR> <BR>Thanks Dick! I'm glad you could contribute to the discussion with your senseless namecalling. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by ian30 on March 22, 2005)

I wish everyone thought like you <BR> <BR>"If I LIVED on Folsom Lake, I would still drive elsewhere to ride. Maybe the Pacific Ocean, or the San Francisco bay!" <BR> <BR>more room for us <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> <BR>

Ahhh Ian, sensitive huh? If you have ur Mom re-read you my post, I didnt call anyone any names. In fact, I didnt even specifically mention ur name or your post, so take off your Walmart wifebeater and calm your keyboard bravado... <BR> <BR>I, in fact did state a fact, although maybe it was over your head. See the part about my father being in law enforcement. <BR> <BR>Ditch the estrogen and quit being so tender...we can still be friends!

I live in Eldo and you need to know where the spots are
Yeah, that's very true. If you know where(and when) to go, you can usually find a cove with decent water.
I was on Folsom Saturday, and it's got more water in it than I've seen in a long long time. <BR> <BR>There's a bunch of debris floating around though, so be careful out there. <BR> <BR>The prediction is that it will reach 462' by the third week in May. that's only 4' below "FULL". <BR> <BR>Right now it's at: 453.11' <BR> <BR><a href="http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?FOL" target="_blank">http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?FOL</a> <BR> <BR>
