hey everyone, <BR> <BR>I am currently using the hyperlite wakesurf that is a 5'11" board and the manuverablity on it isn't very good i'm thinking about steping it down to the 4'9" or the 5'6" just wondering what everyone thinks i'm also a beginner surfer riding on an 04' x-star with 3500lbs so the wake is really easy to surf. <BR>Also i'm wondering if anyone has ever taken the fins off of the 5'11" to make it carve easier or tried to wax it to speed it up???? <BR> <BR>Thanks

No matter what you do you aren't going to make that board (Landlock) any faster or more manuverable. The thing is slooooow, but I have had luck teaching people on it because its so stable. <BR> <BR>I have the 4'9" Broadcast and it works well for most people 180 lbs or less. If you're used to the Landlock you may want to go to the 5'6" Broadcast just to make the transition easier. <BR> <BR>Personally, I would upgrade to a different brand other than the big maunufacturers. Hyperlite makes surfers that work well for beginners but will limit you in your progression evelntually. As soon as you get a taste of what a board other than the Landlock can do you will want more and more and then more...

Just say no to HL, Ronix, LF, go to wakeoutlaws and check out some legit boards. TWP, Inland Surfer, Shred Stixx, Phase five, Calibrated, ETC. <BR> <BR>I went from a 5'6" Broadcast to a TWP Composite X and it has completely changed my riding all together. It made all the difference in the world. I have Ridin the 5'4" Ronix and it's junk too. I have never been able to get any of the LF's to surf but they have all been ver small and I'm pretty big.

thanks for the input so far guys anything else you suggest for my boat set up to besides sinking the hell out of the rear port side...lol...cause right now i'm using an 04 x-star with 1250lbs in that corner and another 800 in the bow before adding people to the corner. Thanks again though

The new Hyperlite Swell is very comparable to all the other expoxy surfers listed above. It is a lot like a Phase 5 or Inland Surfer. Worth checking out.

HL Swell? That's a new one on me. Do tell, please.

imo,you will work thru 99% of the lesser than boards out there by simply making sure your new board was made in the USA..if you do that,you will be fine no matter what you choose.

I got a chance to ride the Swell in Lake Tahoe for their dealer days a couple weeks ago. It is a skim style epoxy board. It is 4'3" and features a Sonic core,seamless edge epoxy construction,dura clear base,shorter wider profile,flat tail rocker line,fully machined traction pad, and die cut logo. I read all that out of the dealer book. But it has the 2 seperate foot pads like a Phase 5 and rides like a skim style board. That is about all I got. I'm not real sure how to describe it any further. I would think there are pics out of this by now though?

Those descriptions all sound like marketing terms. I tried to find a picture, but couldn't. Does anyone know of one? <BR> <BR>Regardless, it's a 4'3" skimmer? Cool.

Does anyone know more details about the Hyperlite Podium Payback program - I may be referring to that incorrectly. It's on their website <a href="http://www.hyperlite.com/podiumpaybackprogram" target="_blank">here</a> <BR> <BR>The last <a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/618658.html?1219690269" target="_blank">NorCal INT League</a> we did was one of their stops. <BR> <BR>I would think that with HL's distribution channels, we'll see a ton of the Swell in ensuing years, it would be great to allow those riders to get some cash for their participation/podiums.

i also need to know what size board i should be riding on i'm 180lbs and have a friends up to 200lbs that might jump on it i'm also 6'3" if height matters. but thus far thanks for the input.

I am 195 and can ride anything from 4'6" on up
