The woman and I are thinking about relocating to Shreveport and I noticed there are a few decent sized bodies of water right around that area and I'm looking for some feedback on the riding scene down there

lsukuntryboy 02-11-2009 10:32 AM

the scene is Louisiana is mainly around monroe and lafayette. There are several riders in Shreveport. i think they mainly ride the red and maybe cross lake? not real sure. im in monroe and have a camp on darbonne in farmerville. go check out Louisianawakeboarding.com. We do everything out of that site. if you do come down let me know. im always down to make a road trip and meet some new guys. im in shreveport fairly often anyway.

You're about 30 miles from Texas... why not do it right the first time?

Isn't there a lot of alligators in LA

Nacho, For some reason I just really don't like Texas but then again I'm from Arkansas so I guess I don't have much room to talk lol

lsukuntryboy 02-11-2009 12:14 PM

there are a ton down south. there are a few up here but ive never had a problem with them unless i was fishin way up in a backwater or something in the trees. they dont like deep water or currents.

If you are ever in the monroe area stop by B&L Marine. thats where my store is. im always in there in the summer. during school im in there when my schedule allows.

One big event we got comin up is spring fling on henderson between laffy and baton rouge. if you want you can ride down with us. we are takin 2 boats i think. its a 4 day free ride on may 14-17.

lovin_the_wake 02-11-2009 12:41 PM

Nick, sweet we're gonna be going down that way to check it all out within the next few months so I'll definitely hit you up if you're around

(Message edited by lovin_the_wake on February 11, 2009)

Mont, ever been to Texas? Maybe we can meet up at Caddo or something to get a set in if you guys stay east.

Nick, That's spring fling right? I'm trying to make it down for that this yr. Pretty good time last year?

lovin_the_wake 02-11-2009 2:14 PM

Nacho, Yeah I've only stayed in a few different cities in Texas but I've driven through it a lot

spring fling was good. it gets kinda crowded on the weekend. the 1st days are really good. But mike knows how to throw parties like no ones business. And thats mainly what spring fling is. My only complaint is that there is not that much room to ride on saturday and sunday. the water gets chopy quick. but we get some big names down there.

Another one yall need to check out is Moon Lake ReaWAKEning. Its here in monroe on the river. Tentively its set for july 18th i think. Its a free ride with a double up contest. For the lack of your own riding at spring fling, MLR makes up for it. 4 days of nuthin but miles of butter. we do have a party on saturday night at the bar on moon lake. the double up is on saturday. there are plenty of sand bars to chill out on. Im more of a laid back guy so i like MLR better. The rest of my crew like spring fling better cause they are kinda crazy.

both are worth goin to though. MLR is kinda small at the moment since we just started it last year. Spring Fling is huge. probably one of the biggest in the southeast. I am gonna be sponsoring spring fling. But i will be the main sponsor of MLR unless someone wants to throw some serious cash at it. But i will be at both. yall just look for a updated black and white old school mc or the swamp sports logos. ill be around one or the other.

Lol classic.

I was waiting to see if anyone I actually knew was gonna postup in my old town. I grewup in Shreveport on a slalom ski and barefooting. They have one of the major slalom stops there (Tournament of Champions) and we were on the lake every weekend. I never go back but the place we used to ride the most was on private land and an old offshoot of the Red River (Gold Point). I think it is where the LA Tech ski team practices sometimes??? Anyway, all my friends had camps out on Lake Bistineau as did I and that is the nicest lake to be on for any watersports around shreveport. It is about an hour away south of town.

The Red River was not damned up when I was growingup there but Looks really nice and smooth most of the time. I have really wanted to get back and try it out but cannot right now. (ACL reconstruction)

If you can get on Champion Lake that would be nice. I am sure some of the local dealers have hookups. I met a few awhile back at the boat show but have not been back to ride.

The reason I was laughing is because most of the guys I grewup with or I knew from there never get on forums like this. Of course I am kinda old....

gene3x 02-11-2009 5:07 PM

BTW if you do get there and I am in town I want a pull!! :P

afwakepilot13 02-17-2009 9:02 AM

I got to ride on the Red once about 2 years ago, and it was awesome. Nobody there, smooth water, and you can throw down right in front of the mall and the casino boat and everything. The water gets a little warm in the summer, but on the flip side it extends the season to be super-long.

lovin_the_wake 02-18-2009 9:54 AM

Well we've decided Shreveport is definitely where we're going Now we just have to get our house sold and get the hell out of Arkansas

gene3x 02-18-2009 10:00 AM

Hope you guys like it. I am always interested what people think of it moving from somewhere else with no preconcieved ideas about the city.

So can I get a pull when I come back to visit my parents?

lovin_the_wake 02-18-2009 10:14 AM

Hell yeah I'm down to ride anytime

denverd1 02-18-2009 10:33 PM

Mont, Sweet! good luck with the sale.

Nick, Maybe I'll see ya at one (or both) of those this summer. Black S&S, huh?

stevo8290 02-19-2009 8:24 AM

im in longview tx which is like 50 minutes from there. but i dont really think there is too much going on there. east texas doesnt really have much. but if you want to drive a little bit you should go to caddo. and for the winter if you are wanting some warm water go to lake perkey. its a power plant lake that stays warm all year around. and hardly anyone goes there

lsukuntryboy 02-19-2009 8:32 AM

nacho. ill be at both MLR (on the dock with obrien gear) and at LSF (not sure bout placement yet). And the boat is a S&S but dont look for the stars and stuff. Its a new looking boat with the body of a S&S. I just repainted it. Ill prolly have a bunch of stickers on it by then anyway.
