First audio install need help guys
 

After reseaching for weeks I dove head first Ito my first install now I have a few question.

1. What tool do i need to cut 2 gauge wire.

2. I have one battery now and adding a perko. So the power wire that comes out of the floor now goes on the common post of the perko along with the power for the accessories and finally the power for the distro block for the amps.

3. The power wire that comes out of the floor has one of those ends that clamps around the big post of the battery. That won't work with the perko so do I cut that end off and clam a new 3/8" fitting(see picture below).

4. What size speaker wire for REV 10s. The ones already in the tower look real small.

1. Just use sharp side cutters, tin snips, or bull nose pliers and cut the end off. Then use a sharp box cutter or sheet rock knife and cut the plastic coating off.
2. All of your accessories and main power wire need to go to the common post on the perko, except the auto bilge should be on 1 or 2 so its on even with the perko off.
3. Yes, cut that end off and put that clamp in the pic on the end.
4. 14 gauge minimum, but 12 gauge would be ideal if you have the room to pass thru the tower IMO.

That 2/0 is pretty big cable for a side cutter or tin snips unless you have a big one. If you don't, I have always cut is with a nice sharp hack saw(fresh good blade). Clamp it in a vice and cuts really easy.

So something like this to cut the wires. I'm pretty sure it won't cut the big one I think I'm going to have to use a hack saw on that one.

I just want to know what are you favorite tools you guys use to for striping and cutting all these wires. I just have some really bad wire stripers and want something better.

I prefer to solder those ends on, while others prefer just a crimp. Some even solder and crimp. I've never had any problems with just soldering though.

For smaller wiring I prefer a combination wire stripper/crimp tool. Is there anything else I can use to crimp the 2 gauge wire since I be working on it this afternoon and I won't have time to order anything. If not I think I'll just try to solder it in the boat.

Ok after weeks of being to busy to finish the install I finally got it done and I love them I'll take some pic's when I take it out next time. I think I did an alright job for an amateur but I totally respect what you guys do that do it full time. I have never sweated so much in my life.

One more question just to make sure I getting all I can out of the PPI 900.4

Should I push in the HPF and LPF buttons on the amp.

Blue Sea switches use a 3/8" post. Perko uses a 5/16" post as does batteries. For a 5/16" post you want a 5/16" lug (and not a 3/8") so you get maximum contact surface area on such a high current connection.

I've got the same amp on a pair of rev 8's... Make sure freqx buttons are pushed in, cross overs on hpf, running mine at 90htz and gains set to about 40%.
