Does anyone know whether the fixed platform on the 1989 Ski Nautique 2001 is through bolted or if the nuts and washers for the brackets can be accessed behind the gas tank. I sold my boat on the condition that the swim platform can be converted to be removeable. I can weld a conversion, but need to know how the platform attaches and WC Correctcraft is reluctant to answer my questions. <BR> <BR>Any suggestions for this?

I can tell you how it is on my '86, yours is probably the same, but no guarantees... Mine has pieces of plywood, maybe 6" x 12" or so, 'glassed into the transom, for three big-ass wood screws for each bracket to screw into. The screws in mine stick out a little bit on the inside. This pic was taken a couple years ago when I had the tank out for other work, but you can see the two top screws of the two starboard brackets sticking out and the rectangle bulges are where the plywood is 'glassed in. Thank you very much. That photo is actually very helpful. The set up seems to be the same. My brackets seem to be fastened by two .5 inch bolts at the top and a smaller screw at the bottom. Are yours fastened by three phillips head screws or are those bolts actually large wood screws? I am trying to figure out if the screws/bolts are tapped in the ply or if there are threads inside the wood thus making the bolts removeable. Thanks again.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking but... <BR> <BR>My '86 has the bolts coming out of the top two holes with nuts on the outside of the boat. The phillips head screws are almost certainly wood screws (not through bolted) because a) you could not get to the screws on the two outer brackets from the inside, and b) they do not need to be very strong since really only serve to stablize the bracket and resist any minor upward forces on the platform. <BR> <BR>If you end up stripping the holes when you remove and reinstall the wood screws, just use a bigger size.
