More like a whole new level of douchebaggery.

stanfield 05-27-2014 4:07 PM

And I can only imagine the garbage he spews out of all that.

jtech 05-27-2014 4:12 PM

While the amount of HLCD's overkill, I am impressed by the sausage to hot chick ratio in the photos. Maybe if I spend 20k more on my system I can dump some of the dead weight on my boat and pick up some scantly clad 20 somethings to parade around in the party cove!

corerider 05-27-2014 4:26 PM

Guess that answers my question in the other thread about where they put all the batteries/amps... Looks like they made it into a closed bow boat and stored it all up there.

No way!! Overkill would be putting rev 10's down the supports on the tower. Until then it's perfectly logical. :P

rukie 05-27-2014 6:54 PM

This is actually a buddy's boat. While i will say that I probably wouldn't go quite that far myself, you gotta give him credit for going all out :). I will also say that I have known him a long time and he always has an admirable percentage on the boat bun front.

hatepain 05-27-2014 7:53 PM

Holy crap Ben haven't seen you on here in a while. Is this the same dude that had the Malibu with all the Bullet HLCD's?

01centurion 05-28-2014 5:39 AM

Ruin no its not, but I think the guy your talking about upgraded to 22 Rev 10....

wetsounds1 05-28-2014 7:09 AM

The boat has 32 REV 10's and 12- 12" subs.

This is the same boat on Acme's Facebook profile pic https://www.facebook.com/acmetopsandtunes

It had a major system already. I think it was 16 or 18 or 20 REV 10's for last couple years and 6 15's.

Acme re did the boat and new wrap and braced tower and this is the current build.

I would love to hear it.

That actually looks more like 32 Rev 10's! Crazy.

Where is the wake pic?!

cjh1669 05-28-2014 7:54 AM

Not sure why you'd do this with HLCDs, not exactly the most well rounded sounding speakers. Are you looking for it to sound like crap in the boat, but great to the guy across the lake?

Have you ever heard a properly powered Rev10? doesn't sound like anyother HLCD

I have 2 pair of properly powered REV10s on my boat, there are still much better sounding speakers than it for those in the boat. You just aren't going to get the same well rounded sound of the horn of a rev10 that you would out of a JL speaker that doesn't use a horn.

and you truly believe most people can tell the difference in a boat going across the water? or even sitting in a cove with 5-10mph winds... maybe but doubtful

Yeah I'm pretty sure anyone can tell the difference. It's pretty clear that the REV10 is built to throw sound, and the louder you turn them the tougher they are on the ears up close. If you're running them low to medium volume you probably couldn't tell, but something from that picture has me doubting he's running it anything but pretty loud

Now if Ben could come in here and tell the STORY of this boat and its system "EVOLUTION" that would be a STORY i would tune into. This boat had been a work in progress for the last few years. The 2 times I have come across the boat its always had issues and needed to go back to the shop "for more work" Auggi (The owner) said it had been threw like 4 sets of sub's this was a few years ago. This is when it had like 4 or 6 12's in the v drive lockers, He couldn't demo it because all the sub's were smoked. Then I ran into him last year and it had more equipment (15's up front) but still the same issues some smoked equipment, So i still have not got to hear it. So the original $ estimates people were throwing out Im sure did not account for the previous "at bat's" Hopefully Ben could come in and shed some light?

You really believe 32 rev 10's are blasted??? At 1/4 volume this boat would hurt. I'll bet he has more bass to them than normal.

just an assumption here but i think the answer to the question might be something along the lines of because he can. I think its more for the concert effect rather than studio quality especially with 12 12" subs. i'd like to hear this as well. I heard the guy with 20 bullet hollow points boat before he switched to the revs and it was ridiculously loud and clear. I can only imagine how much better the rev10's would be.

Tim since you have amps and speakers at your disposal whats the most speakers you guys have ever hooked up and played at once? I'm curious if you and the guys at the shop have ever gotten a wild hair to create a franken system

cjh1669 05-28-2014 12:05 PM

The other piece I don't understand is why do this to a wakeboat with limited space and no real place to party. Man buy a sweet party barge and throw tons of speakers at it, a stripper pole, lights, ect ect. How do you get the rope to work on that thing? Seems like a waste on all fronts to me

wetsounds1 05-28-2014 12:12 PM

Ben can share more info on the evolution of the system. The issues I heard was trying to get enough bass to keep up with the tower. So blowing subs.

Detox, Good question. I wish we had the time to do what you mention, it would be a blast. But just never have the time. Years ago when we first started we did a temp system outside for the rail jam at surf expo. we built these mobile modules that each had a pair of PRO 485 and pair of PRO 80's. We had 5 modules all in a line array. So 10 PRO 485's and 10 PRO 80's all run by our pro audio DJ set up. It was insane how loud it was. Surf Expo wouldn't let us turn it up after hearing what it could do on the set up day.

I always wanted to build some sort of set up for events. But we are lucky if we get time to finish the stuff in our personal and promo builds!

We don't need no stinkin fat sacks, we got batteries!

01centurion 05-28-2014 4:37 PM

I heard he was smoking subs because he had comp subs In the boat before that are made to hit hard for a short period of time, not made to play all day and ended up getting so hot they caught fire.... I'd like to Know what kind of weight is in that boat with all that stereo equipment and loaded with all those ppl, I'm sure it exceeds it's manufacturer recommend weight lol.

brett33 05-28-2014 5:51 PM

Tim- I'm thinking a Wetsounds version of the Red Bull DJ Truck should definitely happen!

mikeski 05-28-2014 11:29 PM

So this boat was in the shop when I dropped off my slalom boat for new upholstery at Acme. Yes, it is over the top. Yes, it is overkill. Yes, you might even say it is ridiculous. I was shaking my head when I first saw it but if this is what the owner wants then who am I to hate on him for doing what he wants to do. After you get over this initial reaction then it's pretty cool to look at and see how extreme this is for a floating wakeboard boat that is still used for wakeboarding. Yes, he does still wakeboard behind the boat. No, it's not the most efficient wakeboard boat but it probably does exactly what the owner wants it to do. We each have our own issues and at least he has issues that can be shared with 10-20 close friends. I am sure most of you would happily take a ride behind this boat if it were offered to you. And, I believe he keeps the wakeboards in the rear lockers...

I am way more impressed with this installation than I am with that big cruiser boat install recently posted. This is what I was alluding to when I posted in that thread. It would be kind of interesting to hear these boats side by side.

grant_west 05-29-2014 8:59 AM

Anyone find it strange that Ben & ACME has been MIA on this subject.????? You would think they would be all over it. In the past anytime ACME would install 2 Wetsounds and a amp we would all get to see 20 pic's of it, but here is a boat they have been working on and off for 2+ years and Not a Peep????

joshugan 05-29-2014 10:27 AM

The boat screams: "This is where the party is at!" And I think that's what the owner wanted.

I wouldn't do it myself but I like it. Hats off to everyone involved in the project!

hatepain 05-29-2014 10:49 AM

Grant, I haven't really seen Ben (soundbox) around here in quite some time. Yes he was really active a couple plus years back and shared a lot of really cool installs but I think Dave cracked down on the shops posting their installs (which I wish he hasn't done but I understand why). Most the shops bounced after that.

pdqwrx 05-30-2014 11:43 AM

The main reason Ben hasn't been on here lately is because he has been slammed! ACME has been going crazy with boats and cars and trucks and busses... Oh and putting 32 rev tens on a boat.... That took some time too. LOL

dougr 05-31-2014 5:52 AM

i can't imagine the total weight. It has to be scary to see a roller coming at you.

fman 05-31-2014 3:04 PM

If my math is correct, $1,984 + tax for wetsounds speaker covers. That is just insane.

I never thought of putting ballast on the tower! Perfect solution for those DD's that can't find enough space.

I curse at guys with two sets. The rest of the lake wants you off it. when we point, it is LOOK AT THAT ASS HAT, not look how cool that guy is.

If he'd managed to fit that much speakage inside the boat, big props. To be honest, I never understood...I WANNA ROCK WHEN BOARDING. Been skiing and boarding for over 40 years, and music is the last thing Ive thought about.

It's all about bling, look at me, I rule, you dont. The rest of us would have paid or mortgage down with the 30K you got into beat

Good for him if that what spins his wheels but I hope he doesn't pollute the whole lake with wigger tunes. With great power comes great responsibility.

Man you guys sure are some internet tough guys... What he and acme did is nuts. They went big and created something crazy. Not everyone is gonna like it. But at least respect the time and effort that was put into it. Auggie wanted something no one else was gonna have and he accomplished that. Now stop being internet bullies lol

Man, people just don't look like this where I'm from. Guess the closer you get to the east coast Bible Belt the percentage of neck tattoos decreases dramatically. I'm not trying to hate, but the closest I see to a group like this on our lake hang out power boats, never on a wakeboat.

I'm in the market for a Malibu, I have the cash, and I'm in the area, but I still would rather have a 1 owner boat. I would end up taking all the stereo/batteries out anyways, and I'd be left with a hole ridden/stressed cracked ex-party boat for high 20's. I'd rather just have a clean one owner VLX for low 30's.
