A friend has a 23 LSV, he has gone as far as to get the lead and the sacs, like 3000lbs worth. What prop are you guys running to get them up on plane. I don't have clue and figure some one might be able to at least point us in the right direction.

Thanks

Acme 1235.

05mobiuslsv 04-28-2009 9:13 AM

What motor?

stewart 04-28-2009 9:50 AM

Acme 1235 for a monsoon and Acme 537 for a HH 383.

Some people are also running the OJ 475 which is similar to the 537, just a touch more bottom end in my opinion.

eubanks01 04-28-2009 11:05 AM

Stewart knows for sure. I got the Acme 1235 and it has made a huge difference.

ride900 04-28-2009 12:56 PM

It's a monsoon.

Sound like the 1235 is the one?

eubanks01 04-28-2009 1:09 PM

Either the Acme or OJ will work fine. When I was researching last year most were getting the Acme for thier Monsoon...so I did as well.

kko13 04-28-2009 5:31 PM

why cant you run the 1235 on the 23 with hh.I know guys with vlx hh run the 1235. they run 3000lbs of ballast and it works good so why not on the 23 just curious.

05mobiuslsv 04-28-2009 6:49 PM

You can run it on there if you run a ton of wieght or are at high altitude. If you're not doing either it's like driving a diesel in 1st gear.

jwharan 04-30-2009 10:15 AM

I run the 1235 on my HH, the stock 537 won't cut it, that guy doesn't know what he is talking about

Just get the Acme 1235 and be done with it. It is the one to have. I agree with James. I have that same prop and it is amazing the difference. More control at slow speeds when you need to circle the boarder or in tight spots at the dock. The hole shot is also sweet with tons of weight.

I don't have the Hammerhead Engine, but why would that make a difference at all.

05mobiuslsv 04-30-2009 11:20 AM

Actually james the 537 isn't the stock prop on the HH. Get your facts straight before trying to call people out.

malibudude 04-30-2009 12:33 PM

I'd personally put the OJ 468 on an LSV with a monsoon. It's lower than the 1235 and will get a fully loaded boat on plane very quick.

kko13 04-30-2009 3:39 PM

Im with James though it seems like the 1235 would be perfect for a 23lsv for either engine.

Im interested in this thread because i want to change my prop i dont own a malibu but i run a 537. i was told the 1235 would be a good prop for my tige when weighted and wonder why its not a good choice for the 23lsv.I have never looked into the oj 468 so i will look it up and see if it will work.

(Message edited by kko13 on April 30, 2009)

I run the Acme 1273 and still have some top end with the hole shot

05mobiuslsv 04-30-2009 8:27 PM

Let's put it this way. When an LSV leaves the factory with a HH motor you can have one of two props on the boat. You can get the base prop which is the ACME 381 or you can get the High Altitude prop the ACME 1235. The ACME 537 is in between a 381 and 1235. So it's not that you can't put that prop on a 23 it's just you loose quite a bit of top end with the 1235 and it's really not needed with the HH. The Monsoon comes standard with the ACME 537 and propping it up to the ACME 1235 works great for most everyone. Moving up two prop sizes on the HH is a big jump and while someone that sacks the crap out of their boat might appreciate it, others may not.

(Message edited by 05mobiuslsv on April 30, 2009)

I had a 23LSV with a HH383 and it came form the factory with a 537. I ran 520lbs of pop sacks and had a a crew of 5-6 in my boat. The 537 worked great. Great holeshot and yet awesome top end. You can put a 1235 on it and it will pull harder, the only issue is that at about 5k rpm you will only be doing about 35 mph, while my boat ran near 47 mph at 5k.

For the monsoon, the 1235 is a stump puller, and great for boarding. But, if you do any cruising, not so good. Higher RPM's, slower speed and higher fuel consumption.

I personally run a 475 on my 247 w/ 8.1L. I use to run the 537, but the 475 gave me more of a holeshot and the same top speed.

Another friend was running the 537 on there VLX with HH383 and did some testing with several props in a controlled environment and found the 537 to run best overall. I also have friends with Monsoons who use the OJ 475 and are real happy with it. What it comes down to is balance. If you are looking for raw power out of the hole, and don't cruise much, 1235. If you want a good compromise, try the OJ 475 or the prop M-dude mentioned.

But hey, what do I know, I am only on my 5th Malibu.

Wow they told me the stock prop was the 381 and the high alt was 1235 when I ordered my boat.

mikeski 05-01-2009 12:14 AM

1235 for the Monsoon

1273 for the Hammerhead. The extra cup on the 1273 will help to keep it off the rev-limiter

toesideturtle 05-01-2009 6:20 AM

There is another prop you should consider. The ACME 1237 or 1631. I like the way the 1237 performs as compared to the 1235----actually returned the 1235 and kept the 1237. The 1631 is the same as the 1237 with a different cup. I run 2500lbs and the power wedge and it gets up much better than the stock 537.
