anyone know if there is going to be a new Watson board for LForce?

daveronix199 07-05-2009 6:45 AM

thats a good queston.. why change the best

duffmangt 07-05-2009 7:25 AM

should be the right year for an update but like dave said, why change the best? haha

lfrider92 07-05-2009 7:44 AM

they have used the same shape for past 5 or six years, but everyone has always loved that shape, thats why they havnt changed it in a long time <BR> <BR>and this has nothing to do with the watson, but lyman said the graphics on the 2010 lyman are INSANE. i cant wait to see it

slax303 07-05-2009 8:33 AM

They are changing the Watson in either 2010 or 2011. I cant remember. Im pretty sure its 2010

lfrider92 07-05-2009 8:47 AM

i dont know why they would change it, its one of my favorite boards, and i know its VERY popular. ive never met anyone that said they didnt like it. i just wish it was a little bit looser

wakemitch 07-05-2009 10:26 AM

David, i dont like it at all. but then again i am very partial to continuous boards. and the watson is just not my style of deck

lfrider92 07-05-2009 11:11 AM

really mitch? well that makes one then. *laughs* i just wish it was a little looser, but the pop is great, and it cuts so hard

watson_134_lf 07-05-2009 12:14 PM

make it flex

daveronix199 07-05-2009 1:10 PM

flex is over rated... the onlybig name in the industry riding flex is randy harris other than that no one is

alevitt 07-05-2009 1:37 PM

How about Tino Santori? Didn't he just land a 1080? That puts him in pretty elite company with Parks, Rusty, Danny, Rathy etc... <BR>Just sayin'

daveronix199 07-05-2009 1:52 PM

very good point! Adam but however those are the only top 2 guys that are riding flex IMO look at the other top pros that are hitting 10's they are all riding really stiff boards such as the Marek with the nova core...! Most companys have followed suit and went with a super stiff and super light board just my 2 cents

wakeborder5 07-05-2009 4:10 PM

Have you thought that maybe they are riding boards based more on their sponsor, rather than their personal preference?

dlwsrider 07-05-2009 4:39 PM

Tino had NO plans of switching till he got dropped by Liquid Force, and there is a video somewhere of Randall Harris talking ish about how he'd "break flex boards like crazy" while he was still with Gator. <BR> <BR>It's all about who's paying you.

jtnz 07-05-2009 4:54 PM

Funny how a flex board is "the future", but that thing that attaches to your tower and preloads the rope is stupid... Same idea behind both. <BR> <BR>I vote keep the Watson the way it is, or make a new one but keep the Watson Classic in the lineup as well.

anodyne 07-05-2009 5:35 PM

I heard that 2010 Ronix wakeboards will have helium cores, giving them negative mass... so, essentially 4-5ft more height on airs and like 2 seconds of increased hangtime... just what I heard, though...

wakerider111 07-05-2009 5:44 PM

it was not a video (unless i am mistaken) that randall mentioned destroying a flex board it was a interview question from "randall replies" he was also speaking without experience at the time and was just stating what he imagined would happen if he rode a board with flex <BR> <BR>this was part of his response to that statement AFTER becoming part of company <BR><blockquote><hr size=0><!-quote-!><font size=1><b>quote:</b></font><p>The first time I rode a Company prototype was nothing like what I initially expected. I landed the majority of my stock tricks. I immediately noticed that the board had a much more lively feel. The amount of flex enabled me to load the tip or tail up on tricks and, in some cases, create more pop. Another huge benefit for me was that upon landing, the board would flatten out somewhat and rocket forward, hence faster landings. I have since discovered that a board with slightly less flex fits my riding style.<!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote> <BR>the rest of the interview is here <a href="http://wakeworld.com/getarticle.asp?articleid=2173" target="_blank">http://wakeworld.com/getarticle.asp?articleid=2173</a> <BR> <BR>i bet those channels on the proto type pic of randalls board a while back would do well to create "slightly less flex" (see below) <BR> <BR>also i think it is good to note that Randall is not only sponsored but is a part owner and a big decision maker. and from the sound of things flex WILL be apart of his future board(s) but to what degree is the question. Randall could not have said it better, "flex is a feature..."... a feature/tech that is still new and maturing in a sense. some companies/ boards will use it a lot, some a little, and some none at all. similar to rocker style as a feature <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/713008.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/699782.html" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/699782.html</a> <BR> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wakerider111 on July 05, 2009)

well since this thread has lost all meaning to 2010 boards i say keep the watson the way it is... If i where to change it id make it a little faster on the toeside edge but who cares i love it and its RAD

jordanrs 07-05-2009 6:52 PM

I have seen an interview online with watson and he said his 2010 board will be completely different with new flex patterns and new core materials. Also watson was thinking about making the switch to company but liquid force made him an offer he couldnt refuse

amo 07-05-2009 7:02 PM

Watson will have three different boards next year. The same old trusty one as the last few years, and 2 new ones that are sweet looking. Like Jordan says, new core material hybrid type stuff.

jsweat 07-05-2009 8:12 PM

jordan where did you see that interview with watson at?

wakerider111 07-05-2009 8:16 PM

a short while back there was a closeup pick/ advertisement for gabe's new board from cwb. so there is another surety to add to the list. <BR> <BR>AND i remember murray hinting on a thread not long ago about a new shape for '10

snwmot 07-05-2009 8:50 PM

Dosnt wastson also have a flex edititon of his own? Also Watson designed the severance from company!

r3cher 07-05-2009 9:08 PM

wat about the shape of the new watson? anyone know if it is going to be the same? And word on the block that Harley could be getting a pro model

spencerwm 07-05-2009 9:54 PM

From what I understand LF wanted to have his new shape out this year as a mid season release. Obviously that didn't happen so next year it is. I am stoked because that means the old shape will make it's way down the line. I cant wait to see what Watson and Jimmy come up with.

r3cher 07-05-2009 10:01 PM

so your saying that it will be same shape till 2011.

jordanrs 07-06-2009 7:34 AM

thats the interview with watson its at the very end

wakerider111 07-06-2009 10:45 AM

here is the spy photo of gabe's board again <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/713141.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><a href="http://www.alliancewake.com/goods_details.php?id=4851" target="_blank">http://www.alliancewake.com/goods_details.php?id=4851</a> <BR> <BR>And again on the boards with flex thing. what about Ennen and Mellisa. 2 pro models using the flex pattern/construction from the LF press <BR> <BR>What about 2010 bindings? <BR>anything pop up besides the proto CWB boots with the straps? kind of a faction boot with velcro straps <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wakerider111 on July 06, 2009)

xbones 07-06-2009 10:54 AM

They need to beef up the Watson some how... I have watched 5 of these boards break this year alone, all behind the boat.... same break everytime, just inside of the lead binding. This isn't some old school 225lb cat doing raleys either... W2W stuff at 165lbs.

amo 07-06-2009 4:07 PM

You won't be breaking one of the watsons next year. <BR> <BR>Or Luker, quit riding like me and casing the wake.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

adam_balon 07-07-2009 12:04 AM

rode a severance 142 today and it was amazing! all my reg tricks no prob. <BR> <BR>cant wait to see where flex is going.

xbones 07-07-2009 5:25 AM

I'm not breaking them... I've been out all season with an ACL... my buddy Alex Graydon, rides for LF and he's the one who's been destroying them, and he's a w2w rider... doesn't venture out into the flats that often. <BR> <BR><a href="http://vimeo.com/videos/search:alex%20graydon" target="_blank">http://vimeo.com/videos/search:alex%20graydon</a>
