It was just a few days after Hurricane Katrina had devastated several southern U.S. states when Mississippi native and wakeboarder Luke Williamson suggested that the wakeboard industry find a way to step up and help out the victims of this tragedy. So we took the experience we've gained from running our annual Toys For Tots Auction and presented the idea to the wakeboarding industry to see what kind of support we could garner. We were not disappointed.

Within ten minutes of sending out a request for items to auction off, we got an email from Shaun Murray of The Boarding School offering to provide a week of instruction and shenanigans with Shaun and his partner Travis Moye. The package included five days of riding and room and board at their camp in Orlando, Florida, a $1,700 value.
Shaun's generosity was just the first of many offers of support from the great companies that make up this industry. CWB riders Zane Schwenk, Andrew Adkison and Trevor Hansen all autographed their respective 2006 pro models and made them available. JD Webb offered up one of the Junior X Series Gibson Epiphone guitars that he won back in 2002. Inland Surfer had just finished their new Red Tide wakesurf model and auctioned off one of the first ones ever made. O'Brien and Liquid Force kicked in several board packages as well as a couple of blank boards from their 2006 line ups. Boarders Paradise and Wakeside put together some nice packages of boards and bindings. IslerPhoto graciously offered up three gallery-quality wakeboarding prints. Perfect Pass provided a full Wakeboard Pro system.
The contributions didn't stop there. Here are some of the other companies that provided you with some amazing deals on some great gear in our Hurricane Katrina Benefit Auction.
The result of all this kindness was the generation of over $12,000 for victims of Hurricane Katrina. All proceeds from all auction items will go to the American Red Cross hurricane relief fund. Thanks to everybody for their support.
