Wakeboarding…On the Edge

Wakeboarding ... On The Edge. Instructional book with CD-ROM

As most everyone who has looked for a wakeboarding instructional book knows, there isn't much out there. If you do manage to get a hold of one, you end up with paper mush after one week in the boat from being handled by wet fingers or the ever-elusive wave over the bow. Jason Weber, author of Wakeboarding ...On The Edge, came up with a terrific solution. This book includes amazing waterproof pages that make on-the-water instruction ten times easier and a CD-ROM that reinforces learning off the water.

Wakeboarding ... On The Edge. CD-ROM Interface

The book is divided up into two sections. The first is an in-depth section that deals with everything from equipment selection to driving double-ups.

The trick instructional section is well written, noting body position and providing visual support through numbered pictures. The author had a great idea to include troubleshooting tips to help the instructor/rider figure out where they are going wrong. The only issue that should have been elaborated on was grabs, only being mentioned in a few short paragraphs.

The second section, entitled "Fluid Access," is a pictorial instructional guide, giving trick tips and other important information such as skill, recommended speed and rope length for the trick. The pictures for both regular and goofy foot riders make learning for both groups very clear and comprehensible.

The only other issue I had was with the book was with the darkness of the pictures. It makes it difficult to see what the rider is demonstrating.

The CD-ROM that is included in the book is a great accompaniment to what is learned in the book. Well organized, the CD allows you to view tricks being demonstrated along with tips through the run of the trick so that you can learn at your own pace. Although the music can grate on the nerves (it can be turned off easily), each instructional is logical and well laid out. Again, both regular and goofy foot riders are catered to.

In summary, this package is excellent for the beginner and advanced rider as well as the instructor on the boat or in the classroom. Clear, concise, and with its waterproof pages, Wakeboarding…On the Edge is, without a doubt, a great addition to any wakeboard enthusiast's boat.
