West Palm Beach, FL - WaterSki Magazine's America's Cup, the most anticipated event of the season, kicked off at Okeeheelee Park today. The world's most elite water-sports athletes were invited to compete in the four-day contest, vying for one of the largest prize purses' of the season. Point totals will accumulate over the four-day contest.

U.S. athletes, Shane Bonifay and Zane Schwenk each walked away with 100 points after winning their heats in Men's Wakeboarding. Bonifay awed his fellow competitors sliding the rail 50/50 and then throwing a blind 180 off. He was also the "five master" throwing three versions of the 540; regular, blind and toeside.

Schwenk, riding for team CWB, had his best ride of the season landing a 7 for his first time ever in a contest.

"It felt great out there today," said Schwenk. "The conditions were perfect, it all just came together."

On the women's side, team O'Brien member, Dallas Friday pocketed 100 points going into the next round. Friday, at 14 and in her rookie season is the youngest competitor in the weekends' contest.

WaterSki Magazine's America's Cup will continue Friday at Okeeheelee Park with the most elite water sports athletes in the world taking to the water for the three part competition; individual honors, USA vs. the World and Manufacturer Teams. The cost of entry is free to the public. Competition begins at 8am.
