So I had a plan to make a new board for every contest this year and make the podium at each So far I'm on track with the TWC and Nationals, I'm hoping I can finish one for the NWWSA event at the end f the month and then I have to ride it well enough!
So here is my idea. I'm just really liking custom car paint schemes where it wraps the rails and cntinues top to bottom, the bottom only graphics or discontinuance seems pedestrian to me
This is what I'm copying:
I couldn't quite match the colors, but at least I found red, green and black! I'm going to have the green at the nose, hoping for just under 1/2 the length with the red at the tail. The transition between the green and red will be gloss black.
I think that the process will be:
2) Lay down the green
3) Mask the green I want to keep
4) Lay down the red
5) Using the matching off cut from the green masking, mask off the red, leaving 1/4" for the black
6) Lay down the black on the transitions
7) Peel all the tape off and clear coat it.
8) Make the podium at the end of the month
Bagging the bottom layer a few days ago.
Every shaper needs a true and faithful shop dog. Nothing says shop dog like an EPS butt.
I've already installed the fin boxes and done the bottom hot coat, this is the deck hoat coat curing and hopefully, I'll be ready to lay down the primer tomorrow.
Getting my paint booth ready!
I used to do paint jobs like that but from the inside out for RC cars a long time ago. It was fun. But if you screwed up, you just bought another 10$ transparent body. That looks like a lot of fun, but a lot more difficult. I guess thats why I stick to the computer now, you have the added benefit of gettin high of the fumes. ;-)
will you be riding this at the NWWSA Open? or will it be for sale?
he he EPS butt
Jeff,I do paint work if you want to do a little trading on some board work.Let me see if I can drag up some pics.
that cadillac in your profile is really nice, if its yours, really nice car man ....

@ tonyv420 - not for sale, I was hoping to ride it at the NWWSA event, but I'm having traction issues, not sure that this board will be ready in time.
@formandfunction - those are so sweet! I love the wood grain you painted on the roadmaster. Let's work something out! I love your work!
Woodydid I just say that.
Love the chevron and ghost logo - Nice.
Wow, that is really cool. I would love to get my bike custom painted, but you are in OKLAHOMA!
I got the primer on yesterday before hitting the lake. I didn't get any pictures, but I laid down the green on the nose last night after returning from the lake. Hopefully, I'll get the green masked tonight, ready for the Red on Saturday morning.
Jeff, just give me a call when you get a minute.
Wake addict, that Cadillac is not mine I just like the photography.
Ragboy,I am suprised you have time to ride a bike with all the surfing you guys do Mine just sits so I don't have much room to talk.
Brock - nice stuff!
@brock, NK! But I ride in the fall and spring. Also, I ride on the weekend some, because I am on the lake on the week, stay away from weekend crowds.
Hey Jeff,
Haven't been on the board much this summer, but everytime I check in - you are up to another cool project! Good stuff
Hey Matt, good to see you again. I hope all is well with you and yours, and thanks for the compliment.
Ryan thanks for the contact info.
The board with the green laid down.
I use a scrap of skatelite for laying the masking tape down on, nothing sticks to that stuff.
The bottom and deck masked
The offcuts that I'll use to match the masking above so that I can put a black "pinline" around the transition.
A coat of red laid down.
That is looking pretty cool.
Thanks Robert, we'll see when I unwrap it!
Can't wait to see it!
Here it is! Not as good as the professional car paint, but not bad for my side pasture
Looks like a chili pepper! I ate at Chilis with family tonight, maybe it's just on my mind.
It sort of does.
I guess that original design simulate teared paper effect. Its hard to cut it by hand. Wonder how pros do it? Scan teared paper and cut it on a plotter?
Any ideas Brock?
There is a good video, I think on YouTube, the artist drew the tears by hand on the masking tape and then cut it out using a single edged razor...the big difference between him and me is that he has TALENT and I'm a hack.
We got a chance to take it out for a quick test. It rode well, solid build and shape
I did it! I podiumed in WA, so I met my goal. Dennis got a chance to ride it now that the ontest is over.
