I am looking for some information about the late 80's prostar 190's with the 351 Indmar. I was wondering what oil pressure anyone else's boat is running at? Mine has always run high (50 psi)but that doesnt seem possible to me as that is alot of pressure. I wondering if my gauge is bad or if I am going to need a new oil pump soon. Thanks
My 190 has a recently replaced engine (about 200 hrs since) and runs at 40-60 psi when cold then down to 20-40 psi when warm.
You could have the wrong grade oil or have it over filled if its not got the correct dipstick.
If you oil pump is on the way out then your oil pressure should drop, not run high.

Mine is the same as Jay's.
Call Indmar and ask them what an acceptable range is.
could be the guage, i had my MDC module replaced at the beginning of this year now my guage reads 40 psi at idle and 85 at cruise, i just keep an eye on it to make sure its consistent

I know this isn't the correct pressure reading but at least i know its pumping oil. I'll get it fixed this winter. |

Well I changed the oil this weekend and it now seems to be the same as Jayc's and gvb's. The oil must have been too thin. Thanks for all the info
