I would like to know what you people thought would be the best 10 inch free air sub to run. I have a kicker in there now with a 500 watt soundstream amp. or would it be better to build a box?

Yes a 12 would fit with no problem.

shiva is one of the best. if you want to spend the money and you have a true 500 watts, the orion hcca-older model.

also get a inline subsonic filter for about 15.00. i think this guy may carry them or
will let you sub get louder without over excursion since it is free air

get a box! worth the effort in my opinion

don't most quality sub amps (such as orion and soundstream as mentioned above) have built in subsonic filters? my old memphis and my current JL both do, and they are all in the same price range (orion is more $$??)
