I test drove the Rinker when I was looking and was not impressed with how long it took to get on plane or the bow rise compared to other I/O's I also found the prop tended to cavitate more than some others. I'd recommend a Regal or Cobalt ahead of the Rinker. Just make sure he test drives a few before he buys it. Then at least he knows what is good or bad, for him.

Not sure on the wake but Rinker's are solid boats! I had a 2004 Rinker 192 Captiva for 2 years and put 120 hours or so on it and had zero problems! It never went to the dealer for anything at all whatsoever! I would definitely purchase a Rinker again if I was looking for a non-wakeboard specific boat.

Comparing a Rinker to a Regal or Colbalt is like comparing a Chevy to a Caddilaac. Maybe check out 4 winds,Searay or Larson. Or if possible any inboard.
