For those of you with the truck. I just hit 100k and for about the past 10-15k My belt squeaks and chirps like crazy on the damp mornings. Run it for a while and it goes away, but even while I was out in CO it was chirping/squaking like crazy at the start-ups out of a covered garage. I just replaced the belt about 5k ago thinking that was the issue, but still same squeak/annoying click. Sounds like it is coming from belt anyways. I did the belt dressing spray thing still no help. WAs wondering if maybe I should replace the tensioner? That something that usually goes about now? Usually dumped my trucks every 2 years as I use them for what they are designed for......DRIVIN..... so really never had to deal with long term stuff, but now.......Well me no longer being Mr. Bachelour and putting 2 princesses through school its time to make this one last.

Think I should do a fuel system clean out from a shop to tackle the injectors and what not as well? Was toying with the idea.

Its the larger idler pulley, just below the power steering pump. My 02 truck did it, my dad's yukon and my wife's 04 does it also. Only when its just a tad chili or a damp morning.

I just had to replace the one on my 98 T/A b/c it was doing. Takes all of 5 minutes to do.

Check the tensioner and the alignment of all the
pulleys. Have you changed any pulleys or water pump? look at the way the belt runs trough all the pulleys make sure its tracking correctly.

yep you have a bearing going out. i would change the idler and tensioner. pretty commmon

Havent changed any of the pulleys.........just the belt. Allignment looks good and noo spots with any out of the ordinary wear.

Well thanks for the info. With both those things it shouldn't be a hard change and those parts are relatively inexpensive. Thanks again for the help so far.

yep, agree with kevin, go ahead and replace the idler pulley and the tensioner pulley, cheap and easy to do. if that doesn't do it might be the water pump. gluck.

you will know just pull the belt of spin/feal the pulleys you will know wich one is causing the noise. but i always replace them both when its apart especially with a 100k on them.

How about the a/c belt, did you change that one as well?

i guess i need to change mine as well. 02 with 125k and it does the same when it is cold!

Did all of the tensioners and the idler pulley. Simple 1.5hr job. I decided to replace the whole tension mechanisims rather than the just the pulleys. Might have been overkill, but what the heck it was apart. I think the main culprit was the AC Tensioner. That bearing was gone. So far so good with 4days on it.
