Hey guys thinking of pulling out the hard tanks on my XStar(205v) and putting in 400lb bags. Will I need to extend any of the lines going to and from the new bags or will it pretty much be a plug and play situation. |
Yes you will need to/want to extend the vent/overflow lines a bit. |
Is it hard to replace the entire line in other words to get to the spot where the vent line leaves the boat? |
Not at all. The whole process is about a 10 minute job. |

I would recommend putting in 750's instead of 400's, that's what I did. They fit the locker perfectly and are a better option if you're into wakesurfing. I never fill both entirely when wakeboarding, but always completely fill one when wakesurfing. |
Any issue with the weight of the bags pressing on the engine compartment? |
on the 750's full yes, but one 750 full for surfing it will be leaning against the hull and not the divider. paul brothers has a good DIY thread for supports he made on wakesiderides. search paul 205v and it will come up. |
I am thinking of doing the same thing on an 07 X-1 but am hesitant of putting in the 750's. I could build a brace but still wonder how they will fit. Anyone have pictures of a 750 pounder full in the back of a 205v? How about pictures of a full 400 pounder? |
i think you'd be disappointed with anything less than the 750's. i haven't done the braces yet, but plan on it. it's not an issue if you don't fill them full, but if you fill them both up it will press the dividers up against the manifolds. i plan on taking a closer look when i can get mine out of the garage. i think as far as the braces go, there may be more than one way to do it although paul's method looks ideal. |
I tried 750's back there and I wasn't feeling it. The dividers were completely bowed in resting on the manifolds, etc.....I guess if you build braces it would be better, but I just went to the 450's and some lead. |

The 750lb sac is 20x20x50 the 450 is 16x16x42. I think the 750 is a little much. The 450 fits nice and you still have storage room on top and at the front of the sac. The 750 takes up the entire locker, front to back and bottom to top. I do wish flyhigh would come out with a new standard V-Drive sac like 18x18x48. But until then i will use the 450's and a couple pop bags in each locker. The 750's did push in my dividers also. |
