I plan on changing my oil filter on my 99 Launch. Anyone know what car/truck engine I should look up at my local AutoZone for the correct filter? I don't live near a marine supply store for marine filters. Any help is appreciated. |

Theres no such thing as a "marine" oil filter. Take off your old one & bring it into your favorite auto parts store to have them cross reference it with their filters. Google "oil filter test" sometime when you can sit & read a bit. Fram doesn't usually do very well. I usually buy Napa's Wix filter & oil (which is Valvoline). |

My company sells Wix. Their specs meet or exceed almost anything from a dealer. Pull the filter off and go to wixfilters.com. They have a cross reference on their homepage. Just type in the part number of yours and it should give you the wix version. If it doesn't work with all the numbers try different parts of the number till it matches. I know Indmar says you have to use Penzoil filters but that is complete BS. |

prob 5.7 chev 350 short one |

Napa Gold 1069, I have the indmar 310hp carb in my 98 malibu |
|
Clay is on it. it is the equivalent to the factory pennsoil pz3 |
|
Mobil-1 M1-111 is also equiv. to that pennzoil pz3 filter, I run those in my boat, but was thinking about swapping over to the Wix. |
|
pz3 = PH30 fram, for reference |
|
If the napa is a1069 then the wix is a 51069. |

If a napa filter starts with a 1,7 or 8 just add a 5 and it is an oil filter. If it starts with a 2 or 6 add a 4 and it is an air filter. If it starts with 3 than add another 3 and it is a fuel filter. Napa filters are just Wix filters in a Napa box. (Message edited by polarbill on June 12, 2008) |
