I am wanting to modify a seat in my xti
It's actually the ice chest that I am converting into a seat
can't find the heavy gauge plastic(?) material that the other frames are made from
kinda want to stay away from wood
can anybody offer suggestions?

Composite decking.

Try Lowes or Home depot.

Try Tap Plastics you can use ABS (black) or Polystrene (white)

i think most of the coaming pads in my boat are UHMW. check with a local industrial materials (metals, plastics) supply.

it's also stocked by plastics houses.
